And baseball's best pitcher takes the mound today to get us back on track!  Villanueva has seemingly cooled off after an exceptional start; I had him on my fantasy team until his last 2 starts, which have been very unimpressive....hopefully the trend continues today

Cards lineup: Carpenter 4, Beltran 9, Holliday 7, Craig 3, Molina 2, Jay 8, Freese 5, Kozma 6, Westbrook 1.

Jay creeping up in the lineup as Freese falls.

Sunday Mike had 5 righties lined up 2 thru 6.  Yesterday 4, 3 thru 6.  Maybe somebody pointed out that is not really a good idea.  Even having your 3-4-5 all righties like today is not good.

At least we have Adams sitting around waiting to counter a loogie.

Isn't Beltran a switch hitter? (nevermind, I didn't read your post right)

Glad to see Adams back with our bench hitting .167 without him.

I guess ideally you'd just switch Beltran and Craig

Wreched D in RF. Carlos needs to hit a homer to compensate.

Pitiful GIDP by Freese snuffs rally. Difficult turn at 2B but David didn't get down the line very well. Not well at all.

Westbrook responds to getting a lead by walking the leadoff hitter in bottom of 4th. He's at 43 pitches.

"Wasn't it 1st and 3rd with no one out?"

Craig leadoff HBP. Yadi single, Craig to 3rd. Jay sac fly RBI, Yadi still at 1st with 1 out. Freese GIDP.

With runners on 1st and 2nd, no out, Westbrook gets behind 3-1. lays it in there and batter hits it past 1st down the line. 3-2 Cubs, runner on 2nd, no outs.

Ground out 3-1. Runner on 3rd one out.

Runner scores on ground out. Throw home too late, relay to 1st gets him.

Ground out 5-1, close. Nice play be Freese.

4-2 Cubs after 4.

Kozma leads off 5th with solid single up the middle. Jake bunting. K, fails to advance runner.

Carp bunts for base hit, 1st and 2nd, one out.

Beltran base hit over short, Kozma scores. Carp round 2nd too far and gets picked off.

Holliday base hit, Beltran to second. Carp would have scored tying run if he hadn't gotton picked off. The play was in front of him in LF, so hard to figure. Bone head.

Craig up, two on, two out.

Count 3-2, runners will be off with pitch,

fouled off, do it again

flair to RF, nice play coming in, slid for the camera.

4-3 Cubs.

Maness does a nice job quickly inducing a double play to get the Cards out of a jam in B6th. Cubs 4-3.
