According to a writer at CBS Sports, the Cards are the heavyweight NL champ belt holders by virtue of beating the Giants in a series early in April. It would take a series loss now to the Cards by any team for that belt to change hands.

Have you noticed that we have NOT LOST A SERIES since we took down the Giants? 3 weeks or so now. Well, the Pyrites look to grab it today!cool

I think we're pretty much a "Locke" to win yet another series here today. With Miller moving to 4-1. Things aren't all that bad when your #4 and #5 starters are a combined 8-1. Well, Shelby really wouldn't even be considered a #4 on the '70 Baltimore Oriole staff....and Lynn certainly resembles anything but a #5. Maybe we need to give the starting staff new numbers? How about Waino #1, Shelby #2, Lynn #3, Garcia #4 and Westy bringing up the rear at #5? Without doubt, Westy is the best #5 on the planet.

Addams! You are a master at stating the obvious. And I fear that you may have put a "Locke" jinx on us too! banghead

Interesting seeing Robinson out there again with the leftie on the mound. It raises the question that Matheny may be employing a platoon out in CF.

Jay actually hit lefties better than righties last year (starters at least). I guess he hasn't done so historically though.

Robinson was due a start. Odd that he would do it the day after Jay was mashing! Call it the MM mini getaway day gaff. (that he learned from Tony) Sit 'em while they're hot! eek1

He's been on my list since he benched 4 starters vs. the Brews 4 games in to the season last year!

Who all do you have pitching today in relief?

Kelly, Rosenthal, Rzep, Salas, and Boggs all pitched yesterday so obviously I'd like to see Mujica and Choate, if necessary.

We need to wake up the bats. As is it looks like the bullpen will get in this game early.

Miller with 78 pitches through 4.  Not a good sign.  He's been missing the target all day too.

Tabata with an 8 pitch, 4 foul at bat....and he homers on pitch 8. Dang it!

Miller up to 92 pitches.

Holliday is proving to be one of if not the greatest bust in Cardinal history.
