What Minor Leaguers do You Most Want to See Breakout and Why?

What Minor Leaguers do You Most Want to See Breakout and Why?

What minor LEaguers do you most want to see breakout in 2013 and why?

The why doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you.

For example topping my list is Ronnie Gil and the reason is because I've predicted he would do so for the last 2 years and I want him to finally prove me right.

Other reasons (among various possibilities) might be because it would provide depth where the organization needs it or maybe you just like the players name.

I want to see what Ronald Castillo and Ben Freeman can do in Full Season Ball and hopefully they breakout. Castillo because he's got such an athletic body type and has shown some flashes in the past and Freeman because his results have been pretty good and his HS stats are video game like. I've also never got to see Freeman throw the ball as he was hurt all Spring.

Great thread by the way.

Starlin Rodriguez. I saw him play last year, very impressed with his skill set. I predicts he puts up very good numbers at AA this year and he makes a big jump in the rankings next year.

From our fan vote last winter, Miller, Rosenthal, Adams, Kozma, and Jackson out of the top 20 are already on the big league roster with Taveras, Wong, Wacha, G. Garcia, and Maness knocking on the door.

Rodriguez could easily shoot into the top 10 of our prospects this year.  He was #13 on our vote, #17 on the cardinalnation.com vote, and averaged getting voted about #19 across all national publications.

I want to see James Ramsey bust out. I think people were undeservingly down on him after the draft. He was most likely drafted out of place, but I think he is more than just a Skip Schumaker player.

I'd also like to see Tyrell Jenkins shore up our "lower level" pitching prospects also and jump into the top 50 players in all of MLB, giving us three such pitchers (Wacha, Martinez, and Jenkins) on that list.

Great thread idea. I will go with Swags. He has been injured and has yet to show what all the hype is about. Also John Gast b/c he is our best hope for a lefty start not named Garcia. Wisdom, Piscotty and Ramesy. Would love to see one emerge as the heir apparent at third after Freese.

GO CARDS!

On the unlikely/sentimental side, I'd like to see Scruggs, Albitz and the Navy guy become real prospects somehow.

More realistically, Pham, Siegrist.

I also hope Cleto can finally put the last pieces in place. Nice power arm. Would be great to get something out of him.

Be nice if Cory Jones can emerge.

And Rasmus.

Cleto is the last pitcher in camp likely to not make the team so he would seem to be first in line if a relief opening occurs.

In 2013, I would like to see Carlos Martinez and Tyrell Jenkins grow, mature and develop into the pitchers that the "experts" projected them to be.  Since the name of the game is "Pitching", the organization needs these two young men to maximize their God-given talent.

From how Martinez performed in Springfield last year he polished up and became more of a pitcher. Just look at his perperhals in Sprongfield. Even scouts and the Springfield pitching coach said he became more of a pitcher after he revamped his delivery to be less violent and smoother in the finish.

My #1 sleeper is Starlin Rodrgiuez and think he can emerge as a top ten prospect if he breaks out. Not named yet. Like to see STL native Lance Jeffries have a successful break out year wherever he plays at. Jeffries from what I've has had a strong spring so far and reportedly impressed scouts in instructs saying he's more polished than both McElroy and Tilson. Just has struggled making contact in pro ball hope he soon realizes the potential of his upper compact stroke and remarkable speed. From the pitching side. Like to see Seth Blair put something together reportedly heard he's not throwing a crossed his body no more and not rushing his delivery hopefully he can find more control. Also interested in Stocks, and Tuivailala first full year preparing as a pitcher. Lastly hopeful lefty Anthony Ferrara can find a way to stay healthy for a full season he's always had the stuff to be a 4-or-5 type starter but has never stayed healthy.

Disagree on Swags, he has been lights out when he's pitched.  He was probably the best starter in the system when he was pitching in 2011.

Honestly think that Martinez is a lot more of the "pitcher" that people want him to develop into.  He worked very hard last year on learning to pitch and not just use his high 90's fastball to strike guys out.  He's much more polished that advertised.

Re: What Minor Leaguers do You Most Want to See Breakout and

Sentiment--Harris.  It would be good to see a guy come out of the Navy and make it to the big leagues.

Among top prospects--Garcia of Memphis.  Because if he can field the position he might be the SS of the future.  (Kozma continuing what he started in September would do this, too.)

Among lower tier prospects on our list--Stoppelman.  A lefty pitcher from Missouri who came in under the radar from a DII school. What's not to like?

That said, this is hard.  I want 'em all to break out.

Re: What Minor Leaguers do You Most Want to See Breakout and

Tommy Pham being a 20/20 guy at Memphis would make things really interesting.

I'm afraid Swagerty will see a dip in velocity before he spikes upward next year just like Freeman did.  I see his year being up and down.  I think he will emerge as the equal to Wacha and Martinez next spring, and we'll be in wonder at how we possibly have three starters better than Maness.

My guys are Garcia and Walsh.  I want two huge mashers moving up to Springfield just as the weather heats up and the almost constant wind that blows in from the south sets that short left field porch on fire.

Cody Stanley hitting .325 with ten early homers would really compliment visible development by Erlich and Bean.

Rodriguez and Tilson for me. Also, Pham because its exciting to see someone beat the odds.

I assume you mean Carson Kelly here?

Ramsey plays the OF.

What was Swagerty's velocity before the surgery? Is Freeman really the best comp for him?
