Consider me confused as to what the plan is for the start of the season with regard to how Matheny is using these middle infielders.Is Descalso gonna play 3B? Carpenter at 2B or 3B?Is Jackson gonna play some OF too now?I am glad to see Craig getting some OF work.

It would seem the only thing enforcable is some minimum of players on the 40 man roster.Btw,did the Crd have any split squad games this year?

I agree. Kelly could go 3-4 innings and Rosenthal could go a few in the event we need a "bullpen" game.
The great thing about our bullpen is that we will have two above-average starters in there if a starter runs into trouble.Remember that extra inning game when Kelly threw nearly 6 innings in relief. You can't beat having depth like that.
