If so, it is very fitting that was in celebration of a World Championship.

I was like a little kid pointing out Stan and Bob Gibson to my wife over and over, while gushing over how great they were as Cardinals.

If someone can find a link to that pregame, I sure would like see it again.
Stan's last time at Busch was game 4 of the NLCS on Oct. 18, 2012.  He gave Matheny the game ball.

Public visitation details:

The Archdiocese of St. Louis announced details regarding the public visitation for Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial that will take place Thursday, January 24th from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis located at 4431 Lindell Boulevard in St. Louis.

The visitation is open to the public and provides fans the opportunity to offer prayers and condolences in memory of Stan Musial. Visitors are asked to enter the Cathedral Basilica through the main doors on Lindell. The Musial family has requested that no photos be taken inside of Church and that any mementos be left at the Stan Musial Statue at Busch Stadium. Please do not bring mementos to the Cathedral Basilica.

Lindell Boulevard will remain open on Thursday, while the Noon Mass is cancelled and both Rosati-Kain High School and St. Louis the King School at the Cathedral will be closed. The St. Louis Police Department will assist with 45 degree angled parking on Lindell between Newstead and Taylor. To accommodate media coverage, the Archdiocese has set aside an area on the East side of the Cathedral Basilica Plaza. In this section only, media will be able to take photos and conduct interviews of visitors entering the Cathedral Basilica. Media may contact Angie Shelton (314.792.7101) for any further information on covering the public visitation.

Saturday’s funeral is private. Additional details regarding the funeral will be provided later.

In lieu of flowers, the Musial family has requested that donations be made to Covenant House-Missouri or a charity of the fan’s choice in the name of Stan Musial. Fans may offer messages of condolence to the family at www.cardinals.com/stan.

"Politicians pushing for Stan Musial bridge". The formal name of the new Mississippi River crossing would be "The Stan Musial Memorial Bridge," but I kind of like "Stan the Man Span." The article includes a link to a petition started by KMOX.

I've read others hoping the Busch field could be named for Stan.

Re: Stan Musial passes

watched the fox presentation before the funeral and about the first 15 minutes of the actual funeral before I had to leave. Some questions/things I noticed...

-pujols refused to be interviewed by local media

-did not see hank aaron, was he there?

-In a taped piece, jim edmonds said (parapharse)...I get to saint louis and I meet stan and I hear everyone talk about how great he is so then I google him and Im like wow....eekbanghead

From what I saw seemed like a good celebration of his life....

Pujols spoke with Rick Hummel at the services regarding Stan.  This is Stan's time and Pujols probably wants to remain in the background. After hearing some of the comments today about Stan, I can understand why Pujols would not want to be called El Hombre.  Hopefully, Joe Strauss finally, finally gets the message that there is only one player that should be called "The Man".  (My nickel says Strauss won't even get the message even after this week in St. Louis.)

Re: Stan Musial passes

That's pretty cool about Musial wearing number 19 for a brief stint in the Spring of '42.

Another Cardinal who I've seen pictured in an unusual (for him) number is Curt Flood. There is a photo of him wearing number 42, which Topps uses as the small black and white photo on his 1963 card.

I've always assumed Flood wore number 42 when he first came to the Cardinals, and at some point early on switched to the familiar number 21.
