2013 AAA and AA rotations
I'm in a muddle trying to sort out what we might be looking at when rosters are set and camp breaks. The Memphis and Springfield starter rotations will depend on injury and performance issues from the top down, of course. Trades are possible. Rosey, Kelly, or Miller could end up starting in Memphis, to be conditioned to start in St. Louis at a moment's notice. Or Lynn for that matter. But I am especially interested in how the other guys in the system are likely to be deployed.
Any thoughts, or is it too soon to think about it?

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
You got Lynn Miller Rosenthal Kelly as MLB/AAA candidates.
You got Gast Lyons Siegrist returning.
Maness Martinez Wach Whiting Blair possibly getting promoted.
Lots of chips.

RE: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
I wouldn't think there is any need to rush Swaggerty, so I'm figuring he won't be a candidate for the AA rotation right out of camp. I'm wondering if there are guys who were at Springfield or Palm Beach working out of the pen last year who might be moved to starter slots.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
Way to early to guess, but here is my guess. Injuries, trades, major league promotions, spring training shines and flops are likely to change everything.
AAA Miller Rosenthal Maness Lyons Gast In the bullpen mix: Freeman,Browning,Greenwood,Sanchez,Cleto,Fornatero ,Butler,Addition,Rondon,Marte, gaub)
AA Wacha Martinez Whiting Siegrist Ferrera (Bullpen Mix: Voss, Sheriff,Hooker,Wright, Lucas,Kiekhefer,Blazek,Gorgon,Castillo,Nazaro,McGr egor, Thomas)
HiA Swagerty Blair Gaviglio Hernandez Hald and a cast of thousands for the bullpen
LoA Jenkins Cooney Heyer O'Shea Freeman

Thanks for putting things in some order cflood. I'll use that for a starting point, and shuffle it around as things develop.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
I think Greenwood, Browning, Additon and maybe Marte gone. Blazek to AAA and Swagerty at least to AA. May start in High A but won't stay there long if healthy.
A strong spring training would put Wacha and Martinez at AAA.
If they convert Siegrist to the pen he probably gets a shot at AAA.
The Cardinals will have a strong priority to place their top prospects at the appropriate level and they will fill in with the less certain guys.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
Just looking at that, and taking into account the amount of bullpen arms we've got that have a shot -- the thought that keeps running through my head is that group of pitchers is disgustingly deep.
not complaining mind you :)

I hadn't figured Wacha starting out at Memphis no matter how strong of a spring. That would be Pujolsian.

Swagerty ended 2011 at AA. Why would he move back to Palm Beach?

Swagerty seems set to relieve next year given health/arm strength. I expect him to start out at Springfield as a reliever in 2013.

Along as healthy Siegrist will be starting in Springfield next year just to advanced to go back to Palm Beach.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
Although Jenkins was inconsistent last year can't see him repeating Low-A again. If he performs strong in the spring could very well start him in Palm Beach to build his confidence.
Robert Stock will possibly start next year if there's an opening slot in a low level rotation, would be to help develop and to learn how to harness his secondary pitches. Will need to be added to the mix.

Any thoughts, or is it too soon to think about it? Not too soon for me. The Memphis staff should be fairly loaded and the Springfield rotation might be just as good. I actually think the Memphis rotation will start out with Miller, Rosenthal, Martinez, and Seth Maness... barring injuries at the top as you said. Wacha will probably start out at Springfield, but should work his way up to Memphis when an injury occurs somewhere.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
Waino Carp Garcia Westbrook Lynn/Miller
Rosenthal Kelly Mujica Boggs Scrabble Choate Salas Motte
Someone has to go I guess or get sent down. It would be a shame to waste Rosenthal or Miller in AAA. I think the team will take a wait and see approach because I wouldnt say it's money in the bank all those starters make 30 starts this year.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
I have Miller stating in Memphis and Rosie in St.Louis. After what Rosenthall showed in the last 2 months i think he HAS to start in St.Louis and the back of the pen. You go with your best pitchers unless it is Miller. I would rather see him on track for 170 IP and that can only be at AAA unless he enters the rotation due to an injury for the big league club. Wacha starts at AA and is the ace in Memphis by the end of the year. If Gast has another solid year then i think you see him in the Lou by the half way point. With Garcia being compromised i expect Zepp to start in at least 2 ST games and Gast could move into his slot. Cards saw Scrabble as a possible starter when they dealt for him. I think we see it in ST this year. Blair will go as far as his command allows him. The starting depth should be in transition all year long for this organization due to the depth and overall talent and question marks they have. I am watcing Maness due to his incredible control. Do i need to remind of the sucess these control guys can have? Moyer, Glavine and Key come to mind. Hard to overlook a soft tossing lefty that can throw strikes. This organization is flat out STACKED with pitchng depth.

Re: 2013 AAA and AA rotations
It's hard to imagine Rosenthal going back to Memphis the way he performed last season.
