TCN 2013 Cardinals Prospect #6: Kolten Wong

Will the second baseman become the first prospect to seize a starting job in St. Louis in 2013?

From watching Wong. Think he could be a plus defender at 2B with a strong arm for the position with good instincts for the game. Offensively believe he can be an above-average top of the order catalyst that sprays the ball to all parts of the field and gets on base at a high rate. Could have a Todd Walker type career if he pans out.

Seems like the Message board fan poll is the only place on the internet to put Adams ahead of Wong on a prospect list.

I personally think Adams is more of a sure thing as well, but Wong has impressed me too.  They are pretty even for me right now.

It's amazing to see these two and Taveras seemingly with nothing standing in their way in terms of making and being successful in the majors, at least in my opinion.

Yup.  Three good position prospects near the majors and pitchers to boot!

One thought on M. Carp and 2nd.  I put odds against it happening. But I think the odds are better for him than they were for Skip since Carp has had a lot of infield experience.  I'd think the transition from corner IF to 2B would be easier than the transition from OF to 2B.
