The former Stanford third baseman makes his top 40 prospect debut after a nice start in Class-A.

Piscotty has been recently getting a lot of Allen Craig comparisons due to the fact that he's already has an advanced approach at the plate, and is already a professional and pure hitter matter of fact labeled as one of the more complete hitters in the draft. Defensively in a corner OF spot has the potential to be an excellent defender to go along with his plus plus arm strength (remember he threw low 90s in college). That's all said I think their is no concern Piscotty will be able to generate more power potential given his exceptional short compact swing. Scouts have said its only a matter of time before his power shifts from gap power to over the fence power. I would like to see how he does in high A ball next year given its a pitcher friendly league will be interesting.

It is probably to be expected that 4 first rounders from this past summer's draft are all crowded into the top of the ranking, with 3 in the top 13.  Not sure how much of that is due to giddiness over our shiny new toys.  Maybe the community's slightly less optimistic ranking of them will turn out to be the sober and non-hyperventilating voice of reason tongue, or maybe it will turn out to be the greatest draft round of all time.  We'll find out what happens when it does.

I'm chomping at the bit for ST to start.  6 weeks or so until pitchers and catchers report.

(Bean doesn't get a pass like Ramsey I guess.)

Putting aside the obvious hyperbole, it is worth remembering that the Cards have not had this many picks so early in the draft in over two decades. Time will tell if they were used wisely, but it seems like a pretty good start to me.
