TCN 2013 Cardinals Prospect #14: Seth Maness

At Springfield, the right-hander was the Cardinals organization’s 2012 Pitcher of the Year. How does that translate to the future?

Brian, are you sure the scout didn't say "Every organization wishes they had a guy like that?" biggrin

I wonder what the minor league records are for K:BB ratios.

Maness was the best in the minors this past year in full season ball at 10.9:1.   Next best at A+ or above was 5.48:1

What makes that even more impressive is the number of innings pitched... 169.  Not 69... 169!

Could he be another Greg Maddox?  Surely not, but who knows...

Every organization wishes they had 100 more pitchers like Seth.

But its still a valid question how well Seth's skills will work at the ML level.  P J Walters was a fine pitcher at AA, but its been hard for him to find a job in a ML rotation.

Maness just gets batters out, he don't beat himself, and he wins.

Bottom line.

Cardinal fans will love him.
