TCN 2013 Cardinals Prospect #17: Starlin Rodriguez

Despite the long shadow of Kolten Wong, the Dominican second baseman had a solid 2012 at Palm Beach.

Rodriguez is my #1 sleeper for the 2013 season. Expect him to breakout and crack top 10 list.

I like his versatility in the field for 2B and OF. Too bad SS isn't on the list of positions he can play.

Ya, we actually have about 4 2Bman that I think would have a great future--Wong, Greg Garcia (really a 2B that is now playing SS), Starlin Rodriguez, and Breyvic Valera. I hope Garcia can be more and more comfortable at SS so he can be a factor in the future.

While Rodriguez and Valera are young, I really would like to see Garcia stick at SS too as he would make a great UTIL infielder in the future.

A guy that can play both positions and can get on base at a high percentage is the perfect bench complement (think Matt Carpenter or Scott Spezio, .360 OBP as Cardinal, as corner IF/OF complements)
