Our top player at short-season Batavia in 2012 seems ready for additional challenges in 2013.

I want to pat myself on the back for leading the charge on Valera this Spring like I did/was part of with Rosenthal and Taveras last year. Valera was so impressive this Spring I was shocked he didn't start at QC. He succeeded in Batavia and showed off his skillset. I haven't seen anyone better in the Minors going 1st to 3rd or from the batters box to 3rd.

Bob Reed's commentary on Valera places much emphasis on his outstanding performance as a teenager at Batavia in 2012.  His date of birth, however, is shown as 1-8-1992, which means he was actually 20 last season and will be 21 at the start of next season.  Does that affect the analysis?

That was a typo on my part. Instead of 1/8, it should be 8/1.

Personally, I've become very intrigued by Valera skill-set and recently jumped on the bandwagon. Their was a reason this kid led the NY-Penn-League in total hits can flat out barrel everything from both sides of the plate and theirs a reason scouts have rated his speed as an 80-grade. Would like to see him continue the success with a full season club next year.

I saw him play quite a bit last March and he was the most impressive player I saw that week not named Oscar.
