Used to live on the stuff, CNH. Even with today's restrictions, I bet we would all cringe at the things we unknowingly eat on a fairly regular basis. I read a great book(The Jungle) as a kid which revealed all the goodies that found their way into the human meat troughs back in the early 20th century.
Don't know if it was Point Loma or not, Booyah. The only thing I recall was that particular Taco Bell was near a beach. It was my first and only visit to San Diego. Loved what I saw of the place though!....except for Blacks Beach. Myself and 3 buddies were about 20 years old at the time. Some guys up in LA told us we had to check out this nude beach down in SD, so off we went. The beach turned out to have a bunch of older people(30's and 40's) prancing around in their birthday suits, so we hightailed it out of there pretty quick. What great times those were(1980's). Me and a pal from Cleveland transfered out to ASU from Bowling Green State University, where we soon met these two other ASU students from Oklahoma. For 2 1/2 years the four of us would travel to Huntington Beach(LA area) the first weekend of each month(every month including summers) and then to Vegas later on in the month. One of these friends(Kyle), who was from Tulsa, insisted on paying for everything on all of these weekend excursions. He wouldn't let you pay for a thing, as hard as that may be to believe. Now you'd think the guy was some kook or goofball, but he was far from that. His father was in the oil business and obviously spoiled his son to no end. I have plenty of stories engrained in my mind from all of these trips that will give me hours of amusement to reflect back upon when I'm old and gray and sitting by myself in some dark nursing home. I much preferred the CA trip over the one to Vegas, but our pal who was footing the bill loved to gamble, so who were we to argue. I'll never forget this one night when we were in Caesars Palace at about 2AM and there was this crowd huddled around this one particular blackjack table. We ambled on over and discovered that the lone player at the table, a Middle Eastern gentleman, was playing blackjack for $10,000 per hand. I watched it for about a half hour and then got bored. I couldn't pry my buddies away though......it was like they were in a trance watching it. So finally I headed on over to this couch off in the corner and did what any normal 20 year old would do.....scanned the landscape for any possible pretty damsels in distress wandering about. I soon noticed this one old guy talking with the front desk clerk. He had white hair and was wearing this long reddish robe(of all things) and was staring at me. I'd look away, but every time I dared take a quick glance over in his direction, there he'd be ....gawking my way. When my buddies finally came on over I pointed him out and almost in unison two of them said "that's Liberace"!....and it was. Needless to say we took right on off out of there. Huntington Beach was great. We'd usually arrive at about 7 or 8 pm on fridays and would always go hit up the Jack in the Box, located across the street from the main pier, for some quick munchies. Then we'd grab our boards and go surfing over near the pier for hours.....sometimes until around midnight. Then on Saturday mornings we'd head on down to Laguna Beach to goof around on the beach and watch all of the great beach volleyball action....sorry didn't intend to ramble on this long......I wouldn't dare do this during baseball season.

You can't tell half a story. We all know this is code for one of three things but i don't want to speculate. Strange that they would keep him on the roster that whole time and not play him at all. I still don't get that. At any rate i hope this young man will be all right. He still has a long way to go. noidea

Completely agree with this.

I think what Strauss said was helpful even if he didn't want to say what probably amounts to gossip anyway. A lot of people were assuming the coaches didn't like his play, when all it was, was a secondary issue. I could care less about secondary issues.

I don't know whether I should care less or not since I don't know what it is.

I just thought there might be some info out there that doesn't have to be kept from the paying customers like Strauss seems to think. If not, so be it. Not interested in rumors. We'll see what happens when it does this spring. Good luck to Ryan.

It's pacific beach. There's a taco bell 2 block from the ocean. That's area always has shenannies going on. So he fit right in with some of the locals.

I remember Pacific beach. Also Dogs beach, Sunset cliffs and Balboa park. Beautiful places all. I could tell you some stories but not on here too. I am not sure what Shenannies are but it sure sounds fun.  have an old Navy buddy that still lives there and my plan is to make it back there someday. I miss the weather and all those sweet bikini bodies.

Do tell, CardinalNation. If it's rated R or even PG, then please send me a PM. I've only been to SD once and besides swipping that bell from atop this country's most famed taco joint, my only memorable story from my San Diego trip was walking down these steps to go to a beach in between SD and LA and who did I see walking on up the steps with two poodles in tow.....get ready now......none other than Ike Godsey(the grocery store chap) from "The Walton's". At that young age I had no desire to really engage him in conversation, so I don't know if he lived in that region or was just visiting. Unlike CardinalNation's stories, I seriously doubt that my little experience would find it's way into Playboy magazine's forum section where readers write in about one of their wild adventures.

Good times Pugs, good times. I will leave it at that due to the fact that i am a gentleman. The Navy was a lot different then. I loved the city of San Diego and have always wanted to go back but somewhere along the line life happened and i am still waiting. I am a Picses from Rhode Island so i am a fish out of water here in Illinois now. The people are wonderful here though.I did climb the border wall in Tijuana one night and was quickly snatched up by the Federalis. Thank God for the Shore Patrol. crazy
