RE: Continued 2013 Cardinal Nation Community Prospect Voting Thr

So far I have it Rahmatulla (5), Kiekhefer (4), Pham, Wilson.

I've been going with 48 hours lately since there is no longer any deadline, so this one will go until tomorrow evening. Since there are only 5 more spots after this one, I think it is useful to see what different names get mentioned and what people have to say about them.

I liked him coming out of college.  Can play 2nd or 3rd.  He's got a little pop in his bat.  He finished strongly at Batavia.

i dont care how much natural talent that some media outlet or whoever else claims he has, if he can't turn that potential into production. 1 yr out of 6 he actually produced. and it wasn't freak injuries that cratered all those 5 non productive seasons. another factor was couldn't hit.

whether its freak injuries, being abducted by aliens, takes a yr off to fight crime as a caped hero, or some other reason, i dont care what the reason was for 5 out of 6 unproductive yrs. to me, at this point, he is a non prospect. would i love for him to prove me wrong and finally measure up? of course. but until he actually does that, i figure it will be something else that will make it 6 out of 7 yrs of not being able to produce.
Isn't what we are looking for this far down a prospect list is talent that could develop and turn into a really good player.  IN 2010 and 2011 he was really putting it together. That was after his time in QC where he hit a ton of homeruns but had a horrible batting average.  His eyes are fixed, I'm assuming his wrists are fixed not it's just the shoulder.  All injuries have been freakish and not something chronic so it's hard for me to fault him.

Honestly talentwise he reminds me of Nic Longmire but Pham has put it together more than Longmire.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, Bling.
Now before everyone starts howling at me, consider this; Since when have we here started doing things half-ass? To stop at 60 Top Cardinal prospects could very well usher in accusations from afar of Cardinal Nation members doing just that. Never before in St.Louis Cardinal history has the team and it's unwavering fans experienced the utter joy of possessing a farm system overflowing with so many blue ribbon budding talents. To stop at a mere 60 would be to shortchange the entire system. Now if your first instinct is to reply with a resounding "no", then you need to merely take a step back momentarily and contemplate the idea of doing things right. Anyone wanting to finish what we started, need only reply with these few words...."LET'S DO 70"!

I'm changing my vote from Kiekhefer to Jacob Wilson.

So the updated and corrected count should be Rahmatulla (5), Wilson (4), Kiekhefer (3), Pham (2)

Victor DeLeon, RHP, made #37 on TCN top 40 list on the strength of his #29 showing on our community list. He was #42 on both Brian's and Carioca's lists so would have missed the boat. Lets hope he makes us look smart in 2013.

Has a solid track record of success. Good bat, very well built, makeup is off the charts, and can really square up to the ball. Tools don't project well. Finished strong in Batavia. Likely an org guy.

Was listening on a podcast, forget which one, but the guy said that Victor DeLeon threw the single best pitch he saw all year.

Sweet, Lurking! Hopefully all of our compadres(and those with a notion to become one) are onboard with "Doing 70". I know it's not an easy thing to go that extra 10 selections, but by golly we have the prospects to make it happen. Now, do WE have the heart and the drive? I'd like to think so. I look around the board at all of the posters who are still voting and there is not a single slouch amongst the entire lot. Names are still being bandied about at a rapid pace, so why quit now?

I second the motion, HurdleHeel!! If Big Mac went off for 70, I think his fans can as well.

Re: Continued 2013 Cardinal Nation Community Prospect Voting

I hope this is received in a positive way as my concern is that we keep 100% integrity in our voting and vote with independence of thought and opinion rather than several people in collusion. Rather than a popularity contest, we want to be sure true prospects with upside are voted to our list. So far, I think the community has done a pretty good job. We will always have differences of opinion depending on whether we have actually seen the player in action or by what we have read from those who have.

I agree with you, and have voted this way, as I'm sure everyone else has too.

It is received in a positive way by me!  cool Just having some fun along the way.
