Red addresses the eyeglasses issue in his autobiography.  He wore them for just a short while - maybe even just a few weeks - and then got rid of them.  He hated them.  And bear in mind, he had reduced vision in one of his eyes due to that CCC accident as a youth.

The autobiography has a photo of him holding the glasses at arm's length with a "you gotta be kidding me" expression on his face.

It takes me time every day to do this and there wasn't a lot of discussion. With spring training camp open and real baseball just a few days away, I decided to let it slide.

It wasn't the quantity of discussion on this thread that mattered, but rather the quality, Brian. I think some of JMo's finer moments are contained within.
