Re: Freese uninjured in auto accident
Not really understanding what the issue is and why a vote needed as to whether he or the cardinals need to give an explanation.
It's the off season, no alcohol involved. Regional news, why does it have to go national? I really do understand why players and celebrities dislike the press so much.

RE: Freese uninjured in auto accident
On CT someone posted an inflammatory rumor with no basis in fact. There was also a poorly written article that mentions the accident and then his past history of alcohol and tried to imply a connection. Police have said there was no alcohol involved and that he was swerving to hit a deer.
Essentially someone wrote an article implying it, someone on CT wrote a post that is now out of hand. It seems twitter picked up about the accident but didn't play up the alcohol angle. Personally I think it's irresponsible to even mention his past when the police have said alcohol wasn't involved in the accident.

One might say we're not here to talk about the past.

RE: Freese uninjured in auto accident
If this quote is accurate..."Police have said there was no alcohol involved and that he was swerving to hit a deer"... wouldn't Freese be in more trouble with the A.S.P.C.A.? ( I assume he was swerving to avoid hitting the deer)

Except for maybe those past eleven winning WS Cardinal clubs, JMo. I'd be a little Leary of the "swerving to miss a deer" explanation though. Who was that Colorado infielder years ago who came up with that cockamamie story about injuring himself carrying deer meat up his apartment stairs? On a serious note, we must all remember to be alert driving at night this time of year during the deer rut season. Many accidents where all the occupants were killed, thus nobody to tell the real reason why the car left the toad, have been caused by deer racing out in front of vehicles and the driver quickly swerves, saving the deer, but surrenders their own life(s) as a result. I have told my daughter a million times to always be on guard and if a deer surprises her, just run over the rascal.

Drving through Wyoming a lot where there are areas of open range, you really want to avoid hitting deer if you can - and of course that is your natural instinct. They can do a ton of damage to your car, and it's often more dangerous to hit them you still lose control of the car and as there are incidences of them coming through the windshield. But then of course swerving can bring it's own problems. Basically one of those no-win situations.

She was badly injured, and frankly, lucky to survive. I know Pugs was joking around, but the damage they can inflict on a car is pretty shocking. I'm pretty familiar with the area Freese was in at the time of the crash. I deer jumping out in front of his car is a perfectly believable story.

JenniferMarie wrote: This must be a mistake. Since when does Pugs not have something to say? --------------------------------------------- Ha!! Yeah, I came back and found 3 notes in my PM congratulating me on my first decent post in years on the Freese thread......and this is what I find. Have no idea on how my post could have been deleted as I don't think it contained a single naughty word......except for the name "AZ. Wildcats" that I used telling Jennifer how the Devils were going to drill her Cats in hoops this year. BicycleMike and GMan are oh so right on what kind of damage wayward deer can inflict on both vehicles and people. I recall the incident years ago just north of Janesville, WI on I-90 where this deer smacked into the drivers side window and one of it's horns went right through the young female driver's neck, killing her....pretty gruesome!

Re: Freese uninjured in auto accident
Maybe if Freese is slightly hurt we could get Tyler Greene back to fill in behind him for awhile. After all, Greene did hit a double one game last year... Rat

Rat You worked this into a thread about David Freese's car accident and you are insinuating other people are the crazy ones? Did one of the 95 mph pitches in your batting cage get away and hit you in the head?

Rat I don't want to step on a Moderator's toes here, but I fail to see how this kind of trolling is helpful. This comment was not on topic but clearly meant to provoke or bait. I would prefer, Rat, that you refrain from anymore of this in the future. Let's keep our board from disintegrating into a flame war, please.

Rat Cease and desist with the Tyler Greene references. He's moved on to another organization. It's time for you to do likewise and quit bringing him up on this board.

Freese appeared on the court in a Pujols Foundation basketball game fundraiser the other day. Even at very low intensity, playing hoops puts stress and strain on the ankles and feet. A turned ankle waiting to happen. I wonder about his judgement.

He still may be in a bit of a haze from that near "deer" miss on the road last week, Bling. Personally, I have no problem with Freese playing a little off-season roundball as long as doesn't attempt doing one of those fancy smancy reverse roundmill one handed dunks....unless of course it's in Albert's face....then go for it.
