RE: Asdrubal Cabrera trade thread

Great debate here. Baerga played in a different era so I don't really think he was that much better of a hitter. During the five years of being highly productive, his OPS+ hovered around 115-120. That's were Cabrera is also sitting. Plus Cabrera is a shortstop, not a second baseman

Has anyone besides Strauss claimed to have direct knowledge that the Cards FO is interested in Cabrera? Has Mo commented?

Thanks for your input, Jennifer.

Blingboy, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that Mo almost never comments on any trade that he might make.

Mo's comments seemed oriented toward quieting the speculation. As I recall, he said they want to see how Furcal's rehab goes and won't consider doing anything until the winter meetings.

Re: Asdrubal Cabrera trade thread

Asdrubal is my 3rd choice.  Machado or Profar would be my # 1a and 1b  I know... that is really wishful thinking. My 4th choice is "some other ready-for-the-majors prospect (Lindor?, others?, etc).  Number 5 is Drew or Andrus (it's a tossup... for me).  I should probably just focus on #3... and #4 (very unlikely also).  I'm not excited about #5 at all... for some reason.

im confused here....are you saying you heard somewhere that cards had interest or were in talks for either of these two or are you just saying you like them? Im assuming they are both off the table unless you would want to exchange other top prospects...

Wishful thinking, I'd wager.

Would that we lived in a world where we could pick and choose what players the Cards would obtain.

I would.go for Elvis Andrus, would bring better defense and range and would fit in the 2 hole.....plus cheaper $ wise and players to acquire

I will second this emotion! It seems to me that Andrus fits this team better and is the safer bet. At least to me Elvis is the Jimmy Rollins of the AL. By all accounts this guy is a winner. Great baserunner, very good defender and a top of lineup hitter. He is Renteria but much faster and he is a Ra Ra guy which Edgar was not. Affeldt and Andrus were the two on my Christmas list this year but.... Asdrubal is a very nice player but there are some ???? about weight and focus. He is a extremely talented hitter that is probably ready to bust out especially if he gets out of the Mausoleum that is Cleveland baseball. Drew could even be ready for a bounceback if healthy after 2 injury riddled years. he would be a distant third choice for me but could be a bargain. There are options in these 3 and i hope they get one of these guys. I just don't buy Furcal for a full year w/o the surgery. My guess is Rafeal is doing a Berkman. He wants to play with all his heart and will try it but the body is breaking down fast. If he stays and Moz lands a SS then Furcal makes a nice DP tandem provided he can throw. jackson or Kozma is the backup with the other going the other way in the trade. IMO there is no room for both Jackson and Koz even now.

GO CARDS!

I don't want somebody who can't hit in the 2 hole and Andrus is not a good hitter at all.

That' s just TC. He has something negative to say about just about every player that comes up. Now he will break out metrics that show Andrus to be the worst hitter since Mendoza. Thats the great thing about the metrics that some here love. You can find a stat to back up your opinion everytime no matter what it is if you just look hard enough.

I'd rather have stats to back up claims than BS unfounded opinions that you seem to love so much...at least when someone like TC makes a claim he uses something tangible to back it up. You just run your mouth and tell everyone they're wrong using absolutely nothing empirical to back it up...

Cleveland-Cardinals Trade Question

It was rumored the Cards were interested in Asdrubal Cabrera before, with Fucale now reportedly having problems, what do you think a fair trade for ACab would be from the Cards side?

I think the Indians are looking for alot like they always do with their top players (Colon, Sabathia, Lee) and its rumored the Phllies offered Vance Worley and 2 top specs while the Indians asked for More

i could see Cleveland asking for Lynn, Rosenthall and one of Adams/Wacha at least

Which is too much.  I'd do Lynn-for-Cabrera straight up.  No more.

And Cleveland would laugh you straight out of the league
i dont think Lynn would even be enough to get Francisco Lindor
