There's at least one good thing about this series. The Padres will not have to face Kershaw. Yay!

GO PADRES!

If there was ever a chance for a three game sweep it is this series.  I'll take two out of three though.

Re: Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Diego Padres (August 29 - 31)

I like the Padres chances with Cashner on the mound against Haren. The Padres beat him the last time they faced him scoring 4 ER. Greinke has been having elbow issues. Not that I am happy a pitcher is injured, I am not, but it may work in the Padres favor, especially with Kennedy on the mound.

Their has been a change in pitching on Sunday. LHP  Hyun-Jin Ryu has been activated from the DL and will be pitching on Sunday instead of Corriea. The Padres have faced him 3 times this season and lost every time. I hope he is due to be beaten by the Padres.

Black just proves once again he is cluless as a mgr. Rivera leads pff with a knock and you have Venable sacrifice him to 2b and give up an out-so Amarista your big rbi guy can drive him in. Have any of these ever looked at stats and probabilities?

I hate bunting.  Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate it.

I do understand the logic behind it, but the Padres tend to only be maybe 50% successful with the bunt in the first place.  On the off chance they are successful they gave up an out and an actual hitter.

You didnt see the Dodgers bunting after a leadoff single, yet thats Buds forte

The Padres beat LA despite the Dodgers unusual 12th inning defense. Something I have never seen before in all my years watching baseball.

Cashner was solid as usual and the pen held up except for Thayer's HR allowed.

Tomorrow night: Kennedy vs. Greinke

GO PADRES!

Many years. Has anyone else ever seen 4 or 5 players on one side of the infield making a line?

It nearly worked...if Smith doesn't beat the throw to first we don't win in the 12th.
Gotta give Smith credit for hustling and keeping us alive.....besides,the noise from the crowd woke me up and let me see the game winner!
It "was" nearly 2:30 am here at the time!

The last time Kennedy faced the Dodgers, which was two starts ago, he gave up 6 runs (5 ER) on 7 hits in 5 IP. He has given up 12 runs (11 ER) in 16.2 IP in his last three starts.

For that one batter, it did work, '19. The extra-man, super shift kept the Dodgers in the game.

I'd ask you how long you've been watching the Padres, but I already know. (And it's more than "many." A lot more.)

That was a really nice AB coming back on the 0-2 count for Grandal.

I know I was in and out of consciousness but didn't Seth Smith ground into the four man line and they went Home to get one and Snith was just safe at 1st?
So it was almost a double play to end the inning but instead we got another AB and Grandal hit the game winner.
So...it worked......but had it been a DP it "really" would have worked.

Edit:I just looked it up and there were "two" unusual lineups.
I missed the five man infield they deployed.
I just saw the Smith and Grandal AB's.

Maybin had a mind freeze to wonder too far off second base to get himself out and cost the Padres a potential run. Fortunately, the Padres so far has kept the Dodgers from scoring and keeping it 1-1 going into the bottom of the 9th.

Horrible call by the first base umpire in the 10th calling Puig swing a check swing when he clearly went. Fortunately, he struck out the next pitch.

One run will win it.

Last night Grandal.
Tonight, Little Ninja.

Kennedy was outstanding tonight.

Despite Maybin's bonehead error in the 9th and a very bad call by the first base ump in the 10th, the Padres prevail to take the series for the first time this season and the first series at Petco Park from the Dodgers since 2010. The Padres also win their 4th in a row and are now 11 back of the Dodgers.

Let's hope the good Stults is on the mound tomorrow.

It's time for the sweep. Let's get out the brooms!

GO PADRES!

Nice to see the team streaking like it is.

Not so nice to see that, once again, their great second halves are never enough to overcome their abysmal first halves.
