Wow, Wednesday's game might set an all time record for total runs scored in a game at Coors...

Yikes, Rivera hitting 5th. Regardless of what his numbers are at Coors, that's sad.

So Blackmon leans into an 0-2 pitch, Headley botches a double play, then Maybin lets a routine fly ball drop in front of him.  Awesome.

Here's Tyler Matzek.  The guy who never--at any point in his career--been able to find the plate.

What's the game plan?

Swing at the first pitch, every single at bat!

Black, you genius.

How is that blacks fault
If anything blame the hitting coach, but I still think the players just suck

you don't think the manager has anything to do with establishing a game plan against a pitcher?

I'm sure if Black had anything to do with this strategy it was for a reason.....Oh,and also,I'm sure he expected a couple of these Professional hitters to actually square a couple up.

Prospect I'm Championing.........Jordan Paroubeck

Maybe he thought swinging on the first pitch would knock it out of the park in Coors?

Welp, that was probably one of the top 3 games of the entire season. Kennedy was absolutely fantastic and the hitting was on point. Headley looks like he's finally doing his job.

3. Quentin, LF
4. Medica, 1B

Black has the same line up two days in row, except the pitcher of course.

Re: San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies (July 7 - 9)

Headley comes up short as per usual but the guy that really got my goat was Conrad. You got a chance to come back and play in the big leagues and the tying run is at 2nd. Ottovino is struggling with his command so as a student of the game, you roll over on the first pitch. I am sick of retred players...

Maybin did okay there. I didn't anticipate he would hit the ball fair.

It seems they are always trying to swing for the big hit instead of putting the ball in play.
Isn't this the third straight game Torres had trouble finding the plate? For once BB didn't mess around. He yanked him quick.

Torres last three appearances:

1. 2 batters: 2 walks …. yanked
2. 3 batters: 2 hits ….. yanked
3. 3 batters: 1 hit / 1 walk …. yanked

Clearly Black has little patience with him recently and we may be seeing why TB chose to give up on him even for a relatively low return given his 2013 ML stats …. command has been his problem even in the MiL ...

As for swinging for the big hit …. seems to be a change throughout baseball to go with not caring about striking out and sliding head first into bases. We are probably down to very few players that reflect old school fundamentals … and they will fade away soon. disbelief I am afraid it is we fans who appreciate "old school fundamentals" that will have to change (or fade away too) …. the players and baseball will not in this evolutionary process. For me, I would add the frustration with taking a game that was played in 2-2.5 hours 40 years ago … change nothing in the basic structure … and now play the same game in 3-4 hours … adding 50% more "dead time".

It's a shame that Ross got the Loss on last nights game.
