Drink it faster for the same buzz.   tongue They have a 24 oz. Goose Island craft brew for $11.50 that's pretty good.  You can complain about the prices but have so many great choices for food and beer at the park, it's fantastic.  Way better than when they opened at 2004 and miles better at Qualcomm.

I dunno. I already don't buy beer very often at the ballpark, and when I do I only ever spring for the 24oz craft stuff. Lowering it to 20oz is sort of a slap in the face considering a lot of this stuff is brewed right here in San Diego (and in the case of Mission, a block away). Hell, when I'm buying 22oz bombers of premium stuff at a bottle shop, $10 is getting toward my upper limit of an impulse buy. $11.50 for a standard 20oz, especially when it was 24oz just a few weeks ago. They should have at least left it at 24oz for the rest of the season.

I wish they didn't serve beer at ballgames. Just gives people a way to be extra rowdy and obnoxious.

Most of the people that are rowdy and drunk at ballgames got started well before they got to the ballpark. That's also a partial reason as to why beers are so expensive, too.

Then again, it's a little easier to get drunk at Petco than it is at other places. There's a good selection of high abv beer available, so you'll get your buzz on a lot quicker than you will for the same price at other ballparks.

Sport, that's something a lot of beer drinkers overlook. I dunno about you—you're younger and bigger than I am—but nowadays I almost always check ABVs whenever I have plans after the barstool.

I can still roll with the punches pretty well, but it's definitely something I pay mind to more now than I used to... or really ever had to, actually. With the local beer scene still (somehow) pressing down hard on the accelerator and providing more and more beer just begging to be tasted, you have to keep that little acronym in mind. San Diego is getting to be known as much for its beer culture as it is for its beaches, though, so I think a lot of people are more mindful about it than you'd expect. Still, you get the college kids and the yuppies and the otherwise uninitiated into a sporting event featuring the kind of beer we have down here and you're still gonna get a lot of people who let that abv creep up on them.

That all said, I'm still very much in the "go big or go home" phase of my love affair with beer. I'm growing to appreciate the session stuff more than I used to, but there's nothing quite like a big IIPA or an imperial stout or a barley wine or some other kind of barrel aged deliciousness.

Aaaaaand now I want a beer.

Now that I think about it, how in the world did we let the OT Beer thread fall by the wayside? Especially during a season where drinking is I'm sure at an all time high?

I typicall only drink bud heavy when I go to Padre games.  What is it, 9.50 or so for the big one?  Are those still 24 ounces?  Because that's still a pretty good deal.  Even at 20 ounces, it's not that bad.

Good question.
