For the first time this season, the Padres are 10 games under .500 and handed their first sweep by the Phillies. They continue their predictable, horrendous, inept, losing ways as they enter this series. It doesn't matter how well our pitchers do if the Padres can't score. Ross pitched 7 shutout innings, but the Padres still lost due to no offense. IMO, the Padres will not win more than one game and could even be swept again if their is no offense and no run support behind Cash, even if he were to pitch a no-hitter.

Game 1:
• Cashner is coming off a solid start pitching a 2 hit, 1 walk 6 IP shutout against the Nats in his first start back form the DL. Only once in 10 starts has he given up more than 2 ER, which was in Milwaukee, and has posted a 1.73 ERA in 9 of his 10 starts. He was suppose to start the third game of the Phillies series, but Black wanted to give him an extra day of rest.
• Colon is tougher than his ERA indicates. The again, the worst pitcher in baseball could shut down the Padres. Colon has had only three bad outings and has allowed only 3 ER or less in 9 of his 12 starts posting a 2.18 ERA in that span.

Game 2:
• Hahn returns for a second start. His high numbers are solely base only one MLB start in which he pitched two solid innings allowing only 1 hit and recording 5k, before surrending 4 ER on 3 mores, 2 walks and 2 HR lasting only 3.2 IP. I hope he has a better outing this time around.
• Wheeler is coming of his shortest start of the season allowing 4 ER 6 hits in 3.2 IP. He has allowed 4 ER or more in 5 of his 13 starts starts this season, but all 5 came on the road. He pitches better at home where he has posted a ERA a 3.28 ERA that include 6 games allowing only 1 ER.

Game 3:
• After 3 solid games which he allowed a combined 4 ER in 18 IP, he faltered allowing 4 ER against the Phillies, despite pitching 6 of 7 solid innings. He has allowed more than 3 ER only 4 times this season and posted a 2.28 ERA in 10 of his 14 starts.
• Matsuzaka low ERA and low BAA is mostly as a RP. He has only 3 starts, but is coming off a solid start allowing 1 ER on 3 hits and 3 BB in 6 IP game. The start before that, he allowed 4 ER on 4 hits and 5 BB in Wrigley Field. The 20 of the 28 walks he surrendered as a reliever, is 3rd in MLB for RPs.

GO PADRES!

Sorry........it was something done on the ESPN board that started to be carried over here.
But once you started back with your awesome threads it just faded away(probably as it should have).
It was just a Karma thing......a superstition so to speak.

Same old song.

In the first inning, 2 on and nobody out then then next the  three batters are out. They didn't even sacrifice to get hem over when  they should have.

I was worried for a minute that this would be one of those games where the Padres score 10+ runs, and everyone shuts up for awhile about firing Black.  Thank God that isnt the case and the team continued to struggle

I am a true believer in Tred magic. This is the first season in years and years without it. I think we're all witnessing the direct effects of that on this team's offense.

Time to start tredding again. It's our only hope.

It won't be as colorful and shiny as ultraTVfan's but I can give us a Tred that lasts and won't break down under the stress of a crappy team..

We never needed anything neat and shiny. We got it done with grit and determination. Maybe that's the problem... ultratvfan started posting these polished "threads" and we all got lazy and complacent.

It's tred time, fellas.

Re: San Diego Padres @ New York Mets (June 13 - 15)

This was the one game I'd thought they win. But Cash and the pen was off their game.
Can you say sweep again.

The Padres have 5 game losing streak and will be 7 when the Mets sweep. After that the schedule gets tougher. I think the Padres will have a at least a 20 game losing streak before they win again. They Padres seem to get worse at seasons continues

June 16-17 in Seattle
June 18-19 vs Seattle ( The Padres historically have had a real tough time beating Seattle, even when they had good teams. Seattle will win all 4 games )

June 20-22 vs Dodgers -  I predict the Padres losing all 3
June 23-25 @ Giants -  I predict the Padres losing all 3. The Padres are over matched.
June 27-29 vs. Dbacks -  I predict the Padres losing all 3
June 30 - July 1 Cincinnati - they might when one game in this series

Then they play the Giants, Rockies, and Dodgers to finish the first half of the season

The Padres are currently 28-39 with 29 games left in the first half. I think they might win 4 or 5 in that span finishing about 33-63 at the end of the half and 30 games below .500.

I truely HATE Bud having a different %*^( lineup everyday  Yasmani hits  HR in his last start, he then sits the next few games.  Rivera homers... sitting on the bench the next day.

Maybin is hitting .290 a full 100 points better than Headley.  Yet, Headley is hitting cleanup, Maybin 7th.

Venable should just never start.  Rotate between Quentin and Dino.  Venable gets the Kotsay treatment of only playing Sundays.  I dont care how many times Venable has blown Buddy, he should not be starting every day.
