Moss going against the lefty.  I guess a combo of Moss hitting very well and Carter's end of season struggles have ended the platoon.

Interesting lineup. We've got at least 1 legit power threat in each 1/3 of the order.

I like the lineup. starting moss vs a lefty is a no brainer for me. Carter has lost it. Dont trust him at all. Drew bats against leftys every game so moss should be given a shot to show he is a everyday player. LETS GO OAKLAND!!!

Come on Blackley. We need a nicely pitched game today. You have been a top fill in before this season and tonite is once again your night.

Still not sure why they're running out Blackley. I say the shortest of leashes and pull him after first base runner that gets to 2nd.

Yeah, let's all not forget that that's the other option

They need him to get through the order at least once. Then bring out the bullpen parade.

Blackley 2IP
Scribner 2IP
Figueroa 2IP
Miller 1IP
Blevins 1IP
Doolittle 1IP

Who would you run out?  I'm not being smart, either.  Who else do they have?   With an all rookie rotation I surely can't think of anybody else.  Griffin is scheduled for tomorrow.  Milone for the WC game on Friday, I believe. It seems doubtful for Anderson, but never know.  It is what it is; simply, there are no other choices.  Maybe Straily will fit in there somewhere, but I don't think he is any better than Blackley, at this point.

If we have to, we have to.
But I think the chances of going through Scribs, Figgy, and Miller, without any of them blowing up, is very small.

Hopefully the offense goes wild tonight so that Blackley's pitching performance becomes and afterthought.  Otherwise, count me among those who still believe that Blackley can pull a great game out of his sleeve tonight.  Won't be able to watch the game, but it'll be hard to think about anything else.

Should Blackley not hold up and texas wins tonight, do you hold Griffin for the WC game?

Hasn't Doolittle thrown like 3 consecutive games?  In the past when he's been thrown out there 2 or 3 consecutive games, he seems to lose considerable MPH on his pitches.

I would, yes, except if Anderson can pitch that game.

It's nitty-gritty time, but most of the pressure is still on the A's, at least for tonight's game. Tomorrow would be the reverse if the A's win again tonight.

no way. pressure is on the Rangers. You guys have led the division the entire season, and absolutely don't want to have to play a game to decide the division tomorrow, especially since your best pitching matchup is tonight. . It's all gravy for the A's here on out.

I don't understand this at all. The pressure is on both teams.

I can't agree with that. The A's have to win two games for the division title. The Rangers only have to win one game.

Re: 10/2 vs. Texas: 2 more for the division!

well we need to see how the Orioles and yankees are doing.. we should try to get HFA for the wild card game if we play the game. That might not be decided until tomorrow. i'd rather stay home and play instead of traveling all the way east to play a do or die game.
