Here  is a link that actually works.

Not sure how big a deal to make of this. It wasn't a smart thing for him to do, but he's hardly an axe murderer.

Re: Lincecum

Does MLB test for marijuana? I'm guessing no because I can't recall any player getting busted for it. I'm glad they're focusing on drugs that ruin lives and/or give players a competitive advantage.

Anyone know why driving while High isnt as bad as driving on alcohol?  DUI is Driving Under Influence , but how is alcohol different than under iffluence of weed?

It isn't.  The only question would be rather or not he was driving after having smoked it.

Or, a better question: What if, instead of a famous Major League Baseball player, had it been you or I pulled over?

Hardly the end of the world, but still a huge let-down.  From now on Tim shall be known as Cheech Lincecum.

RE: Lincecum

The officer deemed him not under the influence, to keep going from the article I read.

Hardly news.

Bit silly considering his public profile but hardly reason to ostracize him.

Will he get a 50 game suspension?

I love Oakland A's Baseball, I have been a Oakland A's fan since 1968. Thru bad times, good times and everything in between, there has always been Oakland A's Baseball.

Why would he? I don't think players even get 50 game suspension for their first positive steroid test.

EDIT: Scratch that - for some reason I was under the impression that the 50 game ban was only after the second offense. Anyway as Toddy points out it is hardly performance enhancing, and also from a legal perspective Lincecum hasn't tested positive for anything, at least not in a MLB drugs test.

Re: Lincecum

Doubt it. Suspensions are handed out for using performance enhancing drugs, and the only thing weed enhances is one's ability to eat Doritos.

Re: Lincecum

I'm shocked that a baseball player would smoke marijuana during the offseason, especially Tim Lincecum.

As for league punishment, I'm guessing he'll be fined.  Here's the relevant paragraph from the drug agreement:

F. Marijuana
A Player on the Administrative Track for the use or possession of marijuana shall not be subject to suspension. The Player will be subject to fines, which shall be progressive and which shall not exceed $25,000 for any particular violation. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a Player who participates in the sale or distribution (as those terms are used in the criminal code) of marijuana will be subject to the discipline set forth in Section 8.E above.

Re: Lincecum

Shocking?!?! Is this considered the giants way? I wonder how former microsoft lawyer Neukom will try and fix this. The giants pride themselves on a good media image and promoting their star players since they have a history of winning nothing as a team. Considering giants basically have a control as favorites on knbr, comcast, chronicle I would expect some type of apology or media campaign to prevent further damage. I would have to think zito might have participated in these activities previously

Lets get lifted Timmy!!! Hummm Baby!!!
