I like this lineup!  I think Moss has to be inthere for his threat value alone. He is always dangerous presence in lineup -- which they really can't afford to lose with Ces in beantown now. Who do you want playing instead?  If Blanks was activated I would consider him...but who now?

He will come out of it. I think this is our "A lineup" right now.

2-25 since the break isn't going to scare anyone being in the lineup. I wouldn't mind putting Norris to fourth and then moving Reddick to fifth, I also would consider maybe giving Gomes some at bats. Yes he is not hitting well against righties but right now he couldn't do much worse than Moss is against anyone.

I like this lineup for now, Moss and all. This is the majors, and Moss is our best power hitter. He's in the correct spot. Benching him or moving him in the lineup won't help him work out of it. If A's are going to win world series this year it's with donaldson batting 3rd and him 4th against righties.  He's had an awful august but you'd be nuts to just sit him to fix it. His timing is off. Unless he's saying otherwise, I haven't heard anything about him being tired or hurt. I will be shocked if come end of august I don't see him hit 4HR this month and get his average around .250 where it belongs. He is who he is.

Moss isn't our best hitter, he hasn't been our best hitter since June. Reddick, Norris, Vogt have all better better hitters hell even Sogard and Lowrie have hit better than Moss has. When pitchers on the opposing team know you are an automatic out, you aren't scaring anyone. He should be lower or on the bench to get his head on straight.

The Royals just acquired Josh Willingham. So the A's will probably have to deal with him the last 3 games of this Royals series

These points of view depend strongly on how much stock you put into career vs. 1-2 month samples. Personally, I don't put much faith in small samples so, unless Moss is hurt (as some here have hypothesized), I think he belongs in the middle of the order.

Royals were looking for another bat for the stretch run and with the Tigers losing tonight, might give them an extra bounce in their step tonight.

However Beane keeps saying watching the waiver wire for another move and such but unless something weird comes back, thinking we are standing pat

Well, considering every team can block the A's, I wouldn't count on a waiver-wire pickup

Very few people have been claimed off waivers this month and those players who have passed can now be traded to anyone so there are people out there to look at if he is interested.

According to Melvin looks like Vogt will not catch any games unless in an emergency this year because of his foot.
