Re: Gameday 4/19: A's at Rays

A's get rays while their offense is terrible, also avoid price/moore. But cobb is an A's killer. sneaky, deceptive fastball and good control.

Anderson/Parker have to pitch well. They are the default aces, if they dont A's have huge issues. unfortunately next week they dont avoid lester/bucholz.

the pessimistic side in previous yrs a 2-4 road trip in TB/boston would be considered a success.

I don't think this team would consider losing a success. I know I wouldn't.

If the Red Sox don't play today (and considering that the city is in lockdown right now, it's a really good chance), there's a possibility that Buchholz is pushed back till tomorrow or Sunday, in which case the A's would be able to avoid him.

David Ortiz is expected to be back in time for the series, so the A's will have to contend with him.

I like Reddick dropping down in the order.  He has been stone cold lately.  Lets take the pressure off and see if he can regain his swing.  I'm starting to get worried that September Josh has carried over into April.

Reddick just had a big game on Wednesday. 2 run double off Norris and walked again later....

But overall, I agree.  He should be hitting 5-6-7 every game.

I think it speaks more to the rest of the team than Reddick that he's been moved down. Last April/May a struggling Reddick was still our 3rd or 4th best hitter.

32 home runs in the true unit of baseball, the full season.

The instant Josh Reddick looks to have recovered his stroke, he should be right back in the heart of our lineup.

or maybe reddick's first half was a bit flukish last yr. his parts of 3 seasons in AAA were pretty lousy with boston. he's never been much of an avg/obp hitter. what he  does have is pretty solid power, athleticism, and a great defender. i dont think he should be considered a middle order bat at all. reddick was actually fine until end of july then that back injury in baltimore and he started struggling. i view reddick's talent level as a .250 type hitter, low 300's obp, 750 OPS w/ gold glove defense. Especially if his plate approach doesnt improve.

I hope he does.  It would essentially duplicate last year when Fangraphs had him the 4th best RF in baseball (unless you consider Zobrist a RF, then he's 5th).

Also the chance some of A's games could get cancelled.  Hopefully that won't be the case ... for more than one reason, obviously.

I admit to thinking that Coco was in the fatal decline phase of his career in the first part of last season.

Boy was I ever wrong. He has been marvelous to begin this season.

I just wish he hadn't dropped that damn fly ball against Detroit. Although I'm sure he wishes he didn't drop it, too.

Isn't one of the few responsibilites of the 1st base coach to make sure that doesn't happen?
