Don't know how many of you remember Cheryl from the old Fanhome days, but we started communicating after I read her posts and thought she seemed pretty interesting. It was Bush vs. Gore 2000, and she was the Republican (she's now more liberal than I am) and I was the Democrat and we argued politics over the internet until we decided to meet. That was 12 years ago and we'll be married this March. Pretty cool from my perspective. If it wasn't for Fanhome and the A's we never would have met.

Congratulations! I think these types of stories will become more common over time, as the Internet often tends to end up grouping people together by interests, so you'd expect some percentage of such like-minded people to hit it off "in real life."

Congrat! I have two sets of neighbors who are married based off of dating sites. One couple is embarassed about it and the other proudly wears the banner.

Fun that our world meets one another on line before we meet in person.

Years ago, my dad said that instead of the old way of people meeting each other "outside in" (first you see their appearance, then their mannerisms and outward personality and only last their thoughts), on the Internet you usually meet people "inside out"...you're first exposed to their thoughts and personality and only later, if the relationship progresses, their appearance and mannerisms and other physical aspects.

That's always stuck with me and I think shows why meeting people online can work quite well.
