Well what did you expect? Including that in the poll is a d!ck move.

Other. I almost went with "general return to respectability," but for me, that doesn't quite describe it. It's more that the team is now watchable again, after having been dead-boring and predictable for what seemed like 20 years.

Oh, and General Return-to-Respectability makes me return to seventh grade and crack jokes about his military comrades, Mjr. Woody and Pvt. Parts.

Other. Team was just plain fun to watch. Probably never experience something that awesome again...

It seems over-the-line to me too.

Tough to choose, but I'd have to say the A's crowds. No better national statement to make for a team which supposedly has no fans.

Aren't personal attacks against the forums rules? Focus on the subject not the poster?

I think that it was the unexpectedness of the A's resurgence that touched a chord with me because while it was happening in Oakland, it was also happening in Baltimore. And there were two epic series between the two teams (July in Baltimore, September in Oakland) that were gritty, grind it out pennant race baseball at its' most enjoyable (even though the A's won 4 of 6 against my Birds).

And on a personal note, hearing a number of posters here mention how they would like to see the A's and O's meet in the post season for the championship as they did in the early 70's was a kick. I understand that some of those comments may have been from people tired of the Yankees and Red Sox dominating the east, but it was appreciated. Maybe next year?

Have a great rest of off season. If mandatory pitchers and catchers report is February 14, we're down to 39 days. I just hope that no one gets injured in the World Baseball Classic in March this year.

I went with crowds at the Coliseum, but that only partially summed it up. All of the items listed had merit - including the absence of ZFP. I mean, I'll be honest, coming to this board and communing with fans who were positive, engaged and genuinely happy for our success was a refreshing change.

But really, the whole second half of the season was full of memories that I won't soon forget - or repeat. No matter how good we are in future years, Im not sure we'll ever see or experience anything quite like the summer of 2012 again.'

I've been following baseball pretty closely since the late 1970s, and last season was the most exciting, most unexpected baseball campaign I've ever experienced.

Not since the late 70s for me, but same here.  My wife kept reminding me to temper my enthusiasm because "they would break my heart" as before.  After a while I told her that even if they faltered at the end, it was such a fun team that it wouldn't matter.
