Bobby Crosby planning a comeback

No, I am not joking.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal

Bobby Crosby, who last played in '10, planning comeback, per agent Paul Cohen. Crosby will work out for teams in mid-Jan. Turns 33 Jan. 12.

Maybe the rest has done him good. Like, maybe it has doubled his skills.

Maybe that's true. I swear everytime I take 3 or 4 months off from playing guitar, my skill level improves the first time I pick it up again.

I imagine Crosby's comeback will have about as much success as Canseco's comeback.

He's a better shortstop than anyone here.

Everyone's a critic.

He is probably a better SS option than anyone currently on the A's roster. I say invite him to camp. If you can't have quality, then go for quantity.

Sure and I'm probably better at my job than Bobby Crosby or anyone here, but that doesn't mean you'd necessarily want to hire me rather than all the other people who also do what I do.  If I suck relative to people in my profession I suck and deserve ridicule.

He'd probably end up a Diamondback.

There were like 2-3 months in 2005 where he was a legitimate hitter but after he injured his ankle, he started to press way too much and never could get his patience back.

you mean, people who post on this board?

I'm not so sure about that. I played slow pitch softball for a few years and I always played SS. In my minds eye I was good. Bobby crosby good.

Just a joke, pard. Being better at baseball than fans on a forum is not exactly a noteworthy qualification for playing baseball.

As a kid, I was as good at juking defenders on punt returns as John Taylor. At least, in my imagination. My imagination was a warm and wonderful place until ...no, never mind. I don't want to talk about it.

So, Bobby Crosby, huh?

Sources tell me the Dodgers have offered Bobby Crosby a three-year, $88 million contract

He's going to be playing baseball? He's not trying to come back to say a dart league championship? Are there dart teams?

Wow!  Looks like Beane moved too fast on signing Hiro.  It's obvious he didn't get the word that Crosby was planning a comeback. biggrin
