Game 154 vs the Rays - Yanks look to clinch a playoff spot
Somebody had to take Game 1 with Noesi starting. Here in the info and line-up from the lohud blog: After a delay, the lineup has finally been posted. The big news is that Phil Hughes has been scratched from his start again after being pushed back yesterday. Hector Noesi will start in his place, and Girardi said he’s good for about 50-60 pitches. The bullpen should get some early work today. Here’s the rest of the lineup: Gardner CF Jeter SS Cano DH Rodriguez 3B Swisher RF Posada 1B Jones LF Nunez 2B Romine C Noesi P

Montero DH tonight then hopefully??
Looking forward to seeing Noesi throwing to Romine, although it'll be a short outing most likely.
Nice day for a double dip, wish i was at the stadium.

I think Yanks don't want to light up Rays of hope for Tampa by giving Phil Hughes the ball. Good move.
Getting started early against Sheild is also a good sign.
Gots to keep it going!

At this pace, Noesi will be done by the end of the 3rd, over 30 pitches already.

Does anyone think that if Noesi was put into the rotation at the All Star Break, he would have better numbers than A.J. Burnett?

Who knows how much they choose to stretch out Noesi here. They could just use him up all they possibly can and then just shut him down until 2012. Thats like 5 months rest...

The HR pitch didn't look particularly bad to me, seemed like he had it elevated pretty high...not high enough apparently.

Noesi out of the game for the lefty Valdes. Going to need CC to eat them innings tonight!

Against the Rays offense CC really should be able to go long, but they will be playing hard with their playoff lives on the line one can imagine.

This is the first time this whole season I think I have heard commentators talk about sabermetric stats(take that with a grain of salt as I've maybe watched half of the games)

Jeter needs to go 11 for 30 for the remainder of the season (prior to the start of this game) to finish at .300. He is already 2 for 2 today and at .299. I hope he can pull it off.

No walks for us.
