Looking forward to a good outing for Vasquez.  Hopefully he shows us he's an option for the rotation.  He looks to have enough velocity and movement to be effective.  Hendriks suprised me with a solid outing against the Tigers.  Maybe he can be a possible rotation arm.  I'm still not really a big believer, reminds me of Blackburn.  Has to be perfect with his control to be effective.

Whoa, Butera is seeing game action?!?!? And still batting above Florimon... Looks like we're taking a look at a lot of young guys... Hopefully by someone other than Gardy (everyone knows we don't need him picking out the next Nick Punto/Matt Tolbert, etc)
Meyer and May will be top of the rotation starters by 2015.

A 2 run homer by Plouffe puts the Twins up 2-1.   I'd love to see him hit at least one more to finish the season off with 25.

BTW,  there may seriously be 100 warm bodies in attendance at tonight's game.  I knew Toronto was having trouble drawing fans, but I honestly can't remember seeing a stadium quite that empty.

Is Plouffe at 23 or 24 now? It's nice to see him end the year hitting well. Not surprised that there aren't a lot of people at the game. Two teams that have no shot at the playoffs, hoping that someone will mercifully end it.

Saying there is not a lot of people at the game is an understatement.  They seriously can't have more than a few hundred fans there tonight.

If I'm Gardy, with nothing at all on the line except Joe's shot at the batting title (and 0-2 in his first 2 AB's) I'd be batting him leadoff to give him as many AB's as possible. Its not like the Twins 'need' to win. Let em have some fun.
Fans in Toronto gave up on this team at the ASG.

well Cabrera with the long ball... he now leads in all 3 triple crown categories. and is hitting .327
Joe falling further back...Yanks crushing Boston; Tampa crushing Baltimore....not a fun night for me.

Butera and Florimon with bad AB's as Twins miss a great chance to take the lead in the 10th. Meanwhile Joe has pretty much killed his batting title chances tonite. Revere won't get to .300. Perkins with a nifty blown save. Don't mind me. A bad baseball night. Yanks win; O's lose. Pretty much the Yanks will will win the division now.

Perkins blows the save with 2 outs in the 9th and Duensing blows the game with 2 outs in the 10th. What a night....

RE: Twins @ Blue Jays - Oct. 1, 2012 - GAME THREAD!

So Detroit wins the Central...like everyone predicted long ago. But they did it clumsily. Cabrera will probably win the triple crown after Joes miserable night.
TB and LAA eliminated. Has to be a huge blow to the Angels...getting punked by the upstart A's. So now with two days left the East and West are still up for grabs. I think Oakland has a real shot at catching the slumping Rangers. I think the O's have NO shot at catching the Yankees...as Boston has clearly folded its tent--even with the incentive of hurting their hated rivals...they've got nothing left at all.

Baseball is a cruel game sometimes...O's rookie phenom made the key error that cost them the game last night. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs...sluggers Thome and Reynolds both struck out weakly to kill the 9th inning rally. Probably don't ever ask Thome to bunt, but it would have been better for the O's had almost anyone else been up...as they would have sacrificed the runners into scoring position..and things might have gone differently.

Oh well.

And the Nationals win their division. Which brings me absolutely no comfort or joy. When they were the Expos, they always found a way to miss out in the final week. Not fair. But the alternative was Atlanta....and I have always disliked them even more.
All in all, a crappy night all around for me, as a baseball fan

rain in NYC might throw a real monkey wrench into things...and force a double header on Wednesday. DH's are hard on pitching staffs; tough on 'older players' and even harder to sweep--or so it seems. Might be the last gasp shot the O's are looking for IF they win their games.

I'm kinda glad to see the Angels fall on their faces. Spending all that money on Pujols and expecting to be in the World Series, and it backfired. Good riddance. This is why I want to see the same happen to the Tigers. I have never..and will not ever, cheer for a divison rival in the postseason. F that!

Hope the O's go far, but I ain't betting on it.
