Brewers vs Twins 6/17
I see interest is at a fever pitch these days with the Twins! OK--the long ball with men on has really hurt the team lately. A close game suddenly turns into a rout with one swing. Blackburn was actually pitching OK...and then the 3 run homer and suddenly the Twins are staring at 5 straight losses. Brewers have REALLY stopped our hitters this series.

Twins string 4 2-out singles together to tie the game at 4-4. Mauer looks like he got hurt again. You have to hope no, but this has become an inevitablilty with the M and M boys.

Mauer out with bruised quad...he got with a collision at home. Mentioned earlier that I thought Capps didn't look comfortable when he was out there in the 9th on Friday. Turns out he has a sore shoulder and isn't available today.
Go-go Gomez with his 6th pinch hit in 9 tries this year against Perkins with two out in the 9th. Gotta get this last out and try to walk off win in the bottom of the inning.

RE: Brewers vs Twins 6/17
people can bitch all they want about Revere's arm....but man can that kid cover ground in the outfield. He has made at least 3 senational catches today...the last one in the 10th was highlight reel stuff. Sometimes players don't have all the tools but they make do. I like Revere a lot. He is one of the more recent Twins prospects who has actually progressed instead of regressed.

Re: Brewers vs Twins 6/17
Insagt your all alone once again. I have had the game on doing odd chores around the garage. Bottom of 14th both teams have had chances for sure, the thing that gets me bases loaded in the 12th I think and 2-0 count on Doumit who has been struggling the pitcher has been all over so he swings away...WHY?? Make the guy throw a strike. Looks like after the rain a lot of people left the game also but cant blame them, Sunday and rain...lets hope after 5 hours plus the Twins pull it out....nice to see you here insagt, nobody else seems to be around much this weekend. Sucky teams nobody wants to sit inside and watch. Butera strikes out, Willinghammer up....Mauer out again sore thigh...TC Bear is ready to pitch next for Twins as they are about out, looks like Swarzak, someone crank one out please...

neither team has been able to get a clutch hit. 15th and Brews have a runner on. Something is gonna give real soon. Darn Gomez---Braun is so overdue. But he can't get it done either!!!

Looks like it.. 16 hits and only 4 runs... how many pitchers have we used? Is there a Butera pitching change in the future?

RE: Brewers vs Twins 6/17
lousy break...3 straight hits and still no runs. Plouffe runs thru the stop sign...would have been a dead duck at home had he kept going but still might be a very critical mistake. Lets hope Span can end this and take Trevor off the hook....

The man is just a human highlight reel out there and more than makes up for that arm with super-human plays... best glove I've ever seen and I don't care if that sounds like gushing or being a homer.

RE: Brewers vs Twins 6/17
no its not. Even the opposing side is acknowledging that he is quite a young talent. I think too much is made of his 'weak arm'. Focusing on the one weakness, while not appreciating all the other stuff he brings. He is also becoming a skilled basestealer too.
Jamey Carroll also caught the attention of the Milwaukee broadcast crew. He had a great day at the plate and he played his usual steady game in the infield.
Nice to see Span come up with the GWH. He was due. Twins did not have a good week but it ended up well.

I wouldn't go that far but he is excellent out there in the field, I will give him that.

RE: Brewers vs Twins 6/17
Revere is starting to routinely make plays out there that most outfielders don't make. He combines speed with some good baseball sense in that he knows what routes to take to get at balls that aren't 'routine'. Ultimately he could very well make Span expendable. Or, the two of them could be that one-two punch at the top of the lineup that gets on, steals some bases and sets the table for the RBI men. The formula is a good one. Just need the right players to make it work. Twins problem is their pitching is so poor, that formula doesn't really have a chance to work. You cannot win a division with a rotation as rotten as the Twins. And their prospects don't look any brighter. Liriano and Blackburn continue to struggle against the 'big inning'. Duensing and Swarzak don't know if they are starters or relievers. Perkins is inconsistent. Pavano is done. Walters is not the answer. Hendriks is a question mark. Diamond is the 'ace' but not really. And they have pretty much raided the Red Wings to the point where we don't know from game to game who will pitch. Maloney has been given 3 starts....and all 3 have been total busts. We have had more starts by committee this season than I can ever remember. In many respects its amazing the Wings are only 5 under .500....if they could hit a lick, they would be over .500 because they have lost a lot of low scoring games.

You know, there IS a reason his fellow Dodger teammates voted him the team MVP (over a guy like Matt Kemp). The guy has been more durable than anyone else, nothing short of spectacular with the glove and given us solid at-bats from the git-go. And it'd be easy for some sportswriter who hasn't seen Carroll play, to be openly critical of the Twins going after him, as he's 'just a 38 year old utility fill in stop-gap guy. We all know his value is so much more than that and anyone who has seen the Twins play this year surely would agree. The guy is earning every bit of that contract that was questioned by so many armchair QB's preseason. Not gushing here - he's been really, really good - as he's been for the Dodgers. Call him a 'late-bloomer', I don't care, but he's not to be judged on his age alone...

Brian-- I have to totally agree! I didn't think he would be this good as an everyday player. But its a shame the Twins don't have the pitching to cash in on this infield upgrade.

Amen, brotha! Your sportswriter in Rochester plain ol' got it wrong (as I guess plenty of other 'experts'). And he probably looks that much better after witnessing the debacle that was last year: Casilla / Nishi / Plouffe - just plain awful, I wanted to poke my eyes with a red-hot poker.
