8/26/2014 - Twins @ Royals - GAME THREAD

0-0 heading into the 7th as Duffy and Nolasco are locked in a pitcher's duel.

Nolasco has looked very solid tonight and seems to be locating his pitches much better than he has at any other point this year.  Let's hope this is the start of his turnaround.

Joe M --professional hitter, with the RBI single to break the 0-0 tie. Twins take the lead 1-0.

Nolasco went 7 strong for the Twins and his curve ball looked virtually unhittable as the game went on.  Now it's up to the bullpen to nail this thing down.

insagt's old friend, Burton was perfect in the 8th, so it's now up to Perkins to finish this one off for the Twins.

Argghhh!!!!  Perkins gives up a walk-off, 2-run homer to Alex Gordon.  Twins lose 2-1 and Nolasco's quality start is ruined banghead

Well that sucked Royally....Perkins surrenders the two run walkoff HR to Gordon and that's that for tonite. What a way to lose.

Yep - looks like at least 3 guys got to "enjoy" seeing Gordon's rocket go over the right field fence, undoing a nice start by Nolasco (finally, eh?) and Burton's nice 8th inning.

biggrin Nice work, amigo.

Yeah, we had previously been a league leading 41-2 when leading after the 6th inning, but Gordon's hit (in his 1000th game as a Royal) was a "crowning moment" of pain and symbolic of our 2014 campaign.

Games like that sting real bad when you are on the losing end...but boy is it fun when you snatch victory from jaws of defeat like that if you're a Royals fan. Despair to euphoria in a matter of seconds.

For me tonight illustrated the biggest problem with the Gardy and Ryan regime. Duffy hangs a curveball and Mauer slaps it to left for a single, and Blyleven loves that he went the opposite way. I'm sure Bremer and Gardy were creaming their pants. Perkins hangs a slider and Gordon blasts it over the wall.

IMO Twins way is not sustainable outisde of the metrodome. Royals struggle with power to be sure, but not due to an organizational philosophy that puts a premium on 1980s small ball. I swear Gardy would much rather score on a error, bunt, stolen base, wild pitch than a HR. How many times does he give away outs in the first six innings to,play for one run.
