8/1/14 - Twins @ White Sox - GAME THREAD

Twins are up 5-4 after 4 innings.  The only thing uglier than the jams Darnell keeps getting himself into are the nasty looking red jerseys the Twins are sporting tonight.

you should see the softball unis the IronPigs are wearing against the RedWings tonite....horrible. (just like the Wings pitching this past week...on their way to getting pasted for the 3rd straight game by the last place team....nice)

speaking of horrible...Darnell wsa horrible tonite as he helped the Twins blow a 5-2 lead. 5-5 now...but Darnell had no command or control. Doubt he'll stick around much longer. Wings once again lazily going thru the motions tonite. Aggravating to watch.

Something tells me we might see Tommy Milone brought up sooner, rather than later . . .

now the Sox take the inevitable lead. I have zero confidence these days in either team.

Twins tie it up 6-6.  Something tells me we are going to be here for a while as neither team seems overly interested in winning this game.

Parmelee goes deep to give the Twins the lead back. I absolutely hate listening to Hawk Harrleson do the WhiteSox games. His 'he gone' just gets on my nerves. Here's how he described Parmelee's HR: (low non-commital voice---that ball is hit hard---then silence) Such an irritating homer. (Harrleson, not Parmelee's hit!)

terrible throw from CF to third. A decent throw gets the runner easy. Instead Fien is looking like a batting practice pitcher as the Sox go to tie it up quickly.

Fien doesn't have it at all. 7-7 and the Sox will probably score again with a runner at 3rd and one out.

The wheels are coming off for both the Twins and Wings. Some extremely ugly losses; bad pitching; untimely hitting; poor fielding...you name it. While the Wings still have an outside shot at postseason (not the way they have been playing lately), once again we have to slog thru the final two months of Twins baseball being totally irrelevant. Gardy left Fien in too long...but maybe he doesn't really care anymore either. Let the kid try and work out of trouble....heck its only one loss......bah.
Hard to stay positive when things are going this badly.

BUT....take heart boys and girls. Joe Mauer MIGHT start his rehab soon!!!!!!rolleyes

Well, the Twins battled back to win 8-6 last night.  Solid performances at the plate by Plouffe, Santana and Vargas and Perkins nails it down with his 27th save.  Let's see if the they can make it 2 in a row today.

I've noticed they aren't playing Colabello much anymore. I wonder if they would consider sending him to Rochester for the month of August to help the Wings get into the playoffs; then recall him in September. When/if Mauer rejoins the team they will have to make a move anyway....one would think they would send Vargas back to AA, but maybe not if he's doing well. Colabello would be perfect for the Red Wings. He isn't accomplishing anything sitting around Minnesota.
