TB vs Twins Sunday July 20

Twins do this a lot....they tease and then fall on their sword, thud. Another lousy start today...trailing 4-1. Both teams have pretty much the same record, but are clearly going in opposite directions.ohlord

Correia was clearly off today and seemed to have a lot of trouble locating his pitches.   The offense had ample opportunities to tie this thing up in the later innings but just couldn't break through with any clutch hits.

But alas, a loss is a loss.

Hopefully, it'll be our turn to string some together.  We caught the Rays playing good baseball, but of course, today was a gettable game for us.  The good news for us this year is the effort is there, unlike past seasons where the body language was 'punching the clock' and playing out the season.

I look over at Philly and I think they will be major sellers (UNLIKE us, imo).  The way they (Rino' doing, mostly) yank Ben Revere in and out of that starter's role, the more I think they'd consider moving him.

Combine that with the fact they went out and got Grady Sizemore (hitting .417 for them since Friday) and have plugged him in as the everyday CF'er, and I think there is a real possibility Revere could be obtained.

The fact that we most likely move Josh Willingham, we're going to be very light in the outfield, so why not make a phone call, TR?

Why not right a wrong and get Ben back? Can't be any worse then what we have going on out in the outfield right now.

No matter how you color it, it was a terrible series. We were at home and played like crap the whole time. Maybe not punching bags....but still they showed me nothing against TB. We were out of every single game early. This is the kind of series that drives me nuts. They go from decent to putrid in a matter of days.
I'm unimpressed with the team's overall performance. They are better than this. TB is playing well, but so WERE we. they came to play. The Twins didn't. To me it smelled every so slightly like the last 3 seasons.

As for Revere...I'd love to get him back. If the Phils don't want to play him everyday...we sure do. Pull the trigger TR...don't listen to all this 'weak arm' crap. He's a darn good ballplayer.

This past weekend left me feeling very cold and discouraged. So much for this nice homestand. The team laid an egg and let it rot on the field.
they took themselves out of each game before the fans had a chance to drink their second beer. Guess I completely missed the 'new Twins fight' that has been missing the last 3 years. These 3 games were terrible.
They have to get their act together if they want to avoid the Central Basement yet again.

While I sort of concur overall---this past weekend the team 'punched the clock'. I saw nothing to suggest otherwise. It was bad.ohlord

I know it's discouraging but in the long run I think it was best for the organization. After the series Ryan put to rest the notion that they won't be sellers, and now he can take the pieces they do have and try to maximize their value, while other teams remain on the fence with the parity in the AL and the 2nd wildcard still up for grabs for several teams.

Interesting...so does that mean they hold on to even Willingham and/or Correia?? Based on their value right now, I won't blame him if they do.
