Rays vs Twins

So its the first game since Sunday and NOBODY IS HERE????? Really??

No matter...jeckyll and hyde Gibson with another lousy outing as the Rays are taking it to the Twins 5-2.
Meanwhile the very sloppy Red Wings continue to find ways to lose games......

Not a great game if you're a Twins fan, but great to see Danny Santana back in the lineup.  Gibson up and down and all around...

Let's get 'em tomorrow.

lousy game...lousy night. Wings lose in the 9th. O's blow it bigtime in the 9th. Twins were just bad from the beginning. So who was it that said Gibson has been 'consistent' this season? He is the epitome of a yo-yo. Either very good or very bad...and he pretty much alternates. What a strange season he is having.
But who else is there really, besides Hughes?
TB is actually coming on strong. Twins need to buck up.....

Twins, like the Red Wings off to a terrible start after the break. Terrible. Terrible.
And Rochester is just plain dead. Lousy time to be a fan of either team.

And the board is dead as a doornail too.

For a bunch of guys who want to be contenders at the end of the season, they sure are playing like ****. Typical Twins. Rope us in after a nice road trip, then fall apart at home. What a effing joke.

One thing about Bremer, he never believes the twins are out of a game, or a season.

Re: Rays vs Twins

A crap effort. They are blowing whatever shot they may have had to get a respectable season. Two hapless games.
And our 'trade chip' Willingham is hitting .113 over the last 27 games. Way to enhance the old trade value.....

Eh, not to be providing too many excuses for them, but the fact is we're hitting Tampa Bay at the wrong time AND we faced one of the elite pitchers in all of baseball (David Price).

End of Story... it's not like we weren't trying out there and going thru the motions, but we simply got outpitched.  Had Price been pitching for us and Hughes pitching for them, I PROMISE you, we'd be talking about a different outcome.

See ya' tomorrow.

Trying or not, a loss is a loss, and with another blown series in the books I'm guessing the Twins will start selling (whether it will be one player or three remains to be seen).  The real question is whether ownership/management will have the courage to finally make sweeping changes in this organization.  They clearly have talented players in their system, but I'm legitimately worried that they will be ruined by a combination of the outdated medical/training staff and the stubborn inability of the organization to alter its coaching and development philosophy.

Re: Rays vs Twins

Hughes has really come down several notches lately. He isn't nearly as sharp as he was in May-June. Can't have him fading on us. Willingham's trade value has gone down the drain. Someone may take him...but they won't return us squat in return. Timing.

And then that ole injury bug. Wings release popular Brad Nelson to make room for oft injured Chris Hermann. So Hermann plays 1 1/2 games and leaves yesterday with an injured thumb. I just wish for ONE lousy season, I could watch a decent RedWings team from start to finish. All I ask is ONE!!! This season is coming unraveled faster than a cat with a ball of yarn. Every wart is being exposed. No clutch hitting; tons of strikeouts; terrible relief pitching with walks galore; no speed; inability to bunt; and possibly the worst inner diamond defense since the Twins took over here. Pinto is a terrible catcher; Romero is a terrible 3rd baseman; Florimon is just flat out having a miserable season all around...and then the raw rookie in the outfield Ortiz who makes an adventure out of every fly ball.

Lack of fundamentals is going to send the Wings home early this year...unless something changes quickly. It has been a disastrous July.
