Re: Twins @ Mariners - July 9th, 2014 - GAME THREAD!

Interesting to note how statistically these two pitchers seem to match up fairly evenly - almost reversed mirrored images (one left and one right hander).

I'd say Gibson has been a bit more up and down, either on or a bit off, while Elias has probably been a bit more consistently "average".  Elias tougher on lefties and Gardenhire has only has two of them (Fuld and Arcia) in the lineup, mostly out of necessity.

My only complaint against this card is not seeing Escobar's name at shortstop and an inferior fielder in Nunez there instead.

I'm going to call for a bit of a breakout night from either Morales and/or Colabello.

Another well pitched game by a twins starter. I just wish that blond from the Mercedes Benz. commercials last year was on TV to see it.

Eh, 3 for 8 with 5 RBI's between them not too shabby - not exactly a "breakout night" but I know folks (all 3 of you) would let me know how poor my predictions are if they stranded a million guys and struck out every time wink.

Comprehensive Twins' win!  Can't say that too often in 2014, but certainly enjoyed that.

I'm very encouraged that Colabello has returned and has done well so far (7-18 6 RBI). If he keeps this up, when (if) Mauer ever comes back, Chris probably won't be #1 on the list to be sent back to AAA. As much as I'd love to have him back in Rochester to help us win our first Championship since 1997--he deserves to have his shot with the Twins. A genuinely good guy. Arcia may have advanced to the top of that list. However, I am very suspicious of Mauer's return to the lineup anytime soon.

Another nice win for the good guys. A two game win streak...against a good team. I sincerely hope that somehow these guys can throw off a few more wins and return to some form of respectability.

I understand that Pino starts tonite and then he gets optioned back to us to make roster spot for Kris Johnson.

Morales struck the big blow tonight with his 2-run double.

Pino was able to get Corey Hart twice with the bases loaded, putting himself in a position for his first major league win.  Way to go, Johanbiggrin.

Suddenly a pulse in Twinsland. Colorado....a beatable team up next before the break. Dreaming...Twins could enter the AS break only 4 under .500.....Or....well, we all know the alternative.
But they just beat a contending team 3 straight. Can't figure these guys out. So, if they actually do still have a little run left in them...I would definitely keep the firesale down to one or at most two players. Willingham will go...but past that, I think the team should try and create a little stability.

As has been mentioned, the best moves they should make would be to fire the manager and the coaches. THAT would be the most positive thing the organization could do going forward. The manager has become stale; the coaches appear to be somewhat incompetent. The training staff is questionable.
There IS talent on the roster....developing it properly seems to be an issue.
