Brewers @ Twins - June 5th, 2014 - GAME THREAD (in progress)

I am really liking our middle infield defense right now... Escobar and Dozier are making a great defensive combo and giving us some offensive spark to boot...

GO TWINS!

Well, shucks... every time I see Carlos Gomez, he looks like the second coming of Roberto Clemente (though with more antics).

And Correia reminds me a bit of Dave Goltz - very, very average and best could be said about him is that we usually were somewhat competitive with him on the mound...

Twins still up (for now), 4-3.

Well, scary as anything top of the fifth, but Correia escapes thanks to a heady play by Nunez and a good pitch to Gomez.

These Brewers swing hard, don't they?  I can't remember a time seeing so many guys going down to one knee swinging out of their socks...

Growing pains disbelief...

Dozier with the baserunning blunder in bottom of the fifth and now Arcia in the bottom of the 6th.

Meanwhile, Correia was fooling no one and on about 100 pitches, not sure why Gardy persisted after getting 5 innings from him.

That play in bottom of the 6th was goofy, all the way around and resulted in Arcia tweaking his ankle.  Why in the world is Plouffe bunting there???

I hope Arcia just rolled his ankle and nothing more.  That was a nasty and very awkward looking spill.

Re: Brewers @ Twins - June 5th, 2014 - GAME THREAD (in progress)

Yeah, I think the thing that gives me some hope that it's not serious was, after initially being very concerned, he was able to put some weight on it and try to scamper back to second.

Well, that was disappointing.  Poor pitching performances from the bookends (Correia and Burton) combined with some very glaring missed opportunities and we're tagged with the loss.

Let's get Houston tomorrow...

Astros are now a fairly decent team...not the laughingstocks of the previous few years. (O's found this out in their recent series) In fact the worst team in MLB is Tampa...drawing no crowds (and desperately needing to be relocated to Montreal!!!)
Tough night for the organization...Twins blew a nice early lead with some uninspired play later on; and the Wings 6 run 9th inning rally falls 1 short.

(are Parmelee's days numbered? He is only getting mop-up duty, if that anymore as the BA sinks way below the Mendoza Line. Ditto Hicks now that Santana is getting comfortable in CF)

Not a great way to close out the series, but taking a split in the past four games against one of the hotter teams in the league isn't the worst thing in the world.   I just hope Arcia is okay.  It always sucks to see a hot bat get knocked out of the lineup due to a flukey injury.

Don't forget, Sam Fuld is now rehabbing and could come back as early as next weekend.  So yeah, Hicks or Parmelee... take your pick.

The other guy that sticks out is Correia, with 5 guys seemingly more capable in Rochester (led by Pino).   Do we trade him at the break?
