Yanks vs Twins July 4th

Yanks vs Twins July 4th

Kyle Gibson has just learned a baseball truism...while wearing a Twins uni, you cannot beat the NY Yankees. Its a rule. Gibson's 2nd major league start unfortunately comes on 'guaranteed loss day'..and he is living down to it nicely, with 3 very poor innings and a 5-0 deficit. But he is hardly alone. Twins may as well not even show up when the Yanks come to town. They will be 10 under .500 in about 2 hours and suddenly trying to catch Cleveland only 10 days ago has gone the way of the dodo bird and right now trying to stay ahead of Chicago is about the best these guys can do anymore.

Pretty sad. Very sad. These 4 games have been collective nightmares.

As I type this Twins are desparately trying to mount a rally to get back in this one....who knows maybe pigs will fly and they will stop being doormats to the Payroll.

so here's how it works for the uneducated and unaware: First two hitters reach with basehits and then Dozier lays down a near perfect bunt that would have loaded the bases with no outs. Instead it just trickles foul at the last second. Then Dozier grounds into a 4-6-3 DP and Joe 'I don't much care about anything' Mauer looks at strike 3 and that was that. And I know there will be more what came from as this game continues to unravel.

And the game just gets uglier and uglier. What a terrible 4 games for the sinking Twins. Yankees totally revitalized. Twins demoralized.

''They've always had great players over there since I became manager here,'' the Twins' Ron Gardenhire said. ''Great players do good things.''

Can anyone else see Gardy's deep inferiority complex?  Amazing the coincidence - ever since Gardy became our manager, the Yanks have had these great, unbeatable players...  we are 23-71 vs. the Yanks since 2002 - enough reason to let the manager go, IMO.

Brian...does that include post season?
Well we've had some pretty decent players over that span (oooo, span....) too but for some reason our guys never rose to the occasion. Hmmmm
