Twins vs O's May 10th

Twins vs O's May 10th

Twins pecking away at Hammels and lead after 6 innings 6-3. Arcia with another strong game. The kid is a major leaguer. Hicks keeps getting his one hit...his BA climbing to near .140.
O's need to win to stay tied for 1st but they don't seem up to the task. Pelfry gets thru 6 innings.

O's bats wake up...a barrage of doubles and suddenly its 6-6. Twins get go ahead run on 2nd with none out in 7th but can't bring him in. The rookies Arcia and Hicks strike out. Momentum of the game has shifted slightly.

Gardy continues to let pitchers go 1 to 2 batters too many.  Everyone in the stadium can see Roenicke doesn't have his best stuff, yet Gardy has to wait for him to get battered around - surely after the 3rd hit you'd yank him??

Secondly, I like the stuff that Casey Fien is made up of...

Thirdly, wow, what can be said of Doumit's throw (attempt) to try to nail Casilla at 2nd base trying to steal?  rolleyes

GO TWINS!

Oh man, thought Joe hit one out there... going to the top of the 9th.

I personally think reaching for Jared Burton in a non-hold situation is a mistake here...

I've typed this before his first pitch, but I'd have gone to Anthony Swarzak... fingers crossed that I'm way wrong.

Re: Twins vs O's May 10th

Well, damn.  A bunch of softly hit balls here tormenting/victimizing us and Swarzak here in the 10th.

Specifically, McLouth's ball hit to CF, was up in the air for miles, yet dropped in front of Aaron Hicks (who obviously either read it wrong and/or got a slow jump.  Secondly, I'm not a fan of the shift or a mini-shift.  Carroll playing Machado up the middle leaving a gaping hole on the right side... we all know where the ball was hit.

Down 3 and need a mini miracle rally to make up for Gardy's poor use of Pelfrey/Roenicke and assisting the Orioles in coming back from a 6-0 deficit.

See you all (1) tomorrow.

Twins go down in 10 - Orioles should include Ron Gardenhire on their Christmas card/ gift list.

RE: Twins vs O's May 10th

This was not a good loss. Some hurt more than others...Twins let this one get away. (having said that, since it was the O's ...well, you know)
Casilla has a strong game. I wonder if that kid will ever really step up and play the game? He has a perfect chance in Baltimore as they have no 2nd baseman..Roberts is perpetually injured and Flaherty is just no good.
I still believe Hicks should be sent down for a month or so. Whats the deal with Mastroianni? Is he anywhere near ready to return? Doumit not having a good week defensively--wherever he plays.
Swarzak wasn't as bad as his line looks...only ball really hit hard was Jones's single.

I'm up north for the opener so I didn't watch the game last night, but I did see we were up 6-3. What happened? Did the O's bats wake up or did we just have bad pitching? Combo of both?

Pin this on the manager.  We have a 6-0 lead and Pelfrey did his job, but clearly running out of gas.  Gardy leaves him in too long, as he does with Roenicke...

Momentum is a funny thing and you let the other team get a sniff, they sometimes take advantage and beat you.
