Ok, Gardy, so you're telling me you think a .152 hitter is leading off is a good idea?  It's a tad mind-boggling that you're still penciling in this dude's name, especially when we have TWO BETTER OPTIONS ON THE BENCH, but to put him at the top of the order?  One of your hunches, eh??

If it were me, I'd personally have Florimon at the top, but wth do I know?

Of course, congrats extended to Wilkin Ramizez and his wife on the birth of their daughter (Venus).

A few things of note in this game:

1.  Joe Mauer is dialed in... BIG TIME.

2.  Pelfrey is a run o' the mill pitcher... like our other starters, not dominant whatsoever (and we'll need to score a bunch of runs for him).

3.  Though Florimon has had a couple adventures in the 4th  inning, he continues to do all the things asked of him.

4.  Hicks continues to look out of his depth offensively... he and Dozier's best chance to get on base is via the walk or error.

5.  Wilkin Ramirez looks potent up there (unlike Hick and Dozier).

This may be an understatement, but the ball is probably looking like a beach ball to Joe, who is just in a zone right now.

Twins up 5-4 in a see-saw battle, Morneau just ripped one by Trumbo's ear knocking in Dozier.

Swarzak with some major cheese in the 6th...fans the side impressively. Twins with the 7-4 lead.

Damn, I'd LOVE to be wrong about Brian Dozier!  biggrin  Glad he's having a good game, but I just don't see it... but props goes out for his 2-out, 2-run scoring single in bottom of the fifth.

Anthony Swarzak comes in, throws nothing but strikes (outside of two pitches) and STRIKES OUT THE SIDE, BABY!

Nice to see Swarzak doing so well. It's a welcome sight to see. I wasn't a huge fan of his in the past, but man this guy can pitch this year. :)

Joe Mauer is the absolute King of the opposite field hit. Just about everything he hits is to left field. Twins up 8-4 and counting.

Just dumps one in front of Trout for his 4th hit of the night, Twins up 8-4 on the back of Joe Mauer.  biggrin

So true, but 2 of his hits were actually on the right side of 2nd base tonight and he actually "pulled" one last night.

The guy is a hitting machine, no doubt.

Plooooooooooooouuffffffffffe  biggrin  Another great play over there!

Swarzak has been so good for three innings and so damned efficient, why not let him finish off this thing and save the pen?

Escobar is really a gamer, isn't he?  Helluva play to hold Trumbo to a single... Escobar brings me back and reminds me a little of Ceasar Tovar, the most versatile Twin ever to don our uniform and a very fun player to watch.

Swarzak running out of gas. Perkins on to save with the tying run on deck. Let's get this for Pelfrey Perk!

Helps that Pujols may be one of the slowest professional athletes I've ever seen. Not his fault that he's slow, though.

Nice game by Anthony out of the pen.

Yeah Pujols has got himself some foot issues...so he's a little more slower then usual. Good win for the Twins. 2 in a row baby. Baby steps boys. Nice to see us get warm again!

It took every once of savvy and arm strength that Florimon possesses to gun down Pujols, who was hustling his ass off to beat the throw.

True, every other Angel would have beaten it out, but doesn't take away from the fact Florimon had the awareness and reflexes to field it after it ricocheting off Plouffe AND make a laser-beam throw to first...

Say what you want, but it was nothing short of SENSATIONAL!  Not many would have made that play...

Holy crap!! Who is this Joe Mauer and where has he been?
Meyer and May will be top of the rotation starters by 2015.
