Under 70 days till the regular season!!

Well my wife finally caved and we're getting Dish installed tomorrow (getting the Multi-Sport Pack w/ 30 some Fox Sports Networks)!! As bad as I'm thinking the Twins will be, it will be nice to be able to watch them on tv and chat with my fellow posters come spring training and the regular season, we are under 70 days away!!! Go Twins Go!!!

Nothing of note happening with the Twins lately, I've just got that itch for it to be baseball season!!
Meyer and May will be top of the rotation starters by 2015.

You think it's going to be nice to watch them?  Word of advice:  Don't have the red-hot poker within arm's reach, amigo.

Haha - well, misery loves company, so at least we can bemoan what a poor job TR did of assembling "talent" in the off-season.  Nice work... but your wife is going to make you pay in other ways, trust me.

Lots of other sports and teams - hey, I heard the Phillies may be worth watching this year?  wink

i had dropped the idea for a while (probably since the end of last season) and earlier this week she said call up Dish and get it installed, might have had something to do with the free Hopper deal, so I "think" I'm off scott free lol.

Coming from only watching them when they were playing the Yankees or Red Sox on Fox Saturday Baseball (they usually ended up getting crushed). It'll be nice to see them actually win a game on tv, I mean they can't lose them all... right?

Bemoaning TR's assembly job is quickly becoming the board's past time lol...

Yeah, it seems like the NL East is becoming the place to send players from the Twins who have the skill and abilities to play at any sort of high level...

Yes, but if TR would stop making these boneheaded blunders of signing dud free agent pitchers like Kevin Correia (ala Marquis, ala Ponson, ala Hernandez)... you wonder if the guy will EVER learn from past transgressions!?  At this point, it doesn't seem likely...

It seems you are in the minority if the StarTrib's poll is a decent barometer, which is kind of sad, given that we're in late January and all itching for spring and baseball (*normally).

Question

Poll: How excited are you about the Twins and the start of baseball?

Results

# of votes   % of votes
Very 138 20% 20%
Somewhat 162 23% 23%
Not much 179 26% 26%
Not at all 221 32% 32%

That poll greatly depresses me... How can people not be excited for baseball, the greatest game? Yes, the Twins will probably have a down year but who doesn't want to watch baseball just because?

RE: Under 70 days till the regular season!!

It mostly comes down to true fans and bandwagoneers.  When the Twins were close to being folded, we saw some true fans stand up and some took leadership roles and got the stadium built.  Baseball fans suffer through down years and revell in winning years.  All of those Calvin Griffith years losing players left and right made the WS wins in 87 and 91 that much more sweet.  I'll be there watching every game with my MLB Extra Innings.  I'll  be watching even if they're 10-15 games back in September hoping to get a glimpse of some prospects getting a cup of coffee.  It's baseball, not the most popular game in America but as far as I'm concerned, the best.
