I love the general direction the team is headed and going.

I was a little bit concerned or casually skeptical but not critical of the Span/ Meyer deal. But i like the Revere deal quite a bit....despite the tough factor not seeing Revere on the Twins diamond anymore.

The Twins have the chance to be VERY good mid-way through 2015. and maybe make a DEEP playoff run in the 2015 and or 2016 seasons.

THE BIG PICTURE is important here guys, 2013 was ALWAYS written off.  There was no chance.  I like Terry Ryan and respect him a lot.

While I appreciate the optimism, I just can't climb on board completely...and for one simple reason: you can't project with any accuracy, that far into the future. Saying we will be very good in 2015 is saying that all the prospects will pan out...stay healthy and play to projected potential. That just isn't possible. Injuries always crop up (Gibson, Benson); players just plain fail (pick any handful of pitching prospects); trades are made.
Peeing away the present by trying to use 3 years in advance as the reason has never set well with me...and clearly not with the fans who plunk down the big bucks to watch the games.

You have to try and be competitive all the time...as unreasonable as that may be. It always has to be the goal because prospects are just that...prospects and they are mostly unpredictable. Coming from a minor league perspective...I have watched 'can't miss' prospects come and go...only a small handful ever live up to their press clippings. Most of them either fail, or become marginal players at best.

I agree that the farm system has to be strong...for the very reason that so many of them actually don't make it. But to write off the present by thinking that in 3 years or even 2 years, everything will be rosy, is just too risky. IMO.

Its only the opinion of one baseball fan, but I thought the Twins didn't get enough for Span; and I really disliked the Revere trade. I think they have over-estimated the value of the pitchers they got; while giving away an exciting young bonafide leadoff hitter and excellent CFer. Time will tell I guess.

That's john sickels system isn't it? I dont' see where it's any different than most everyone elses... in fact the middle full of B- guys isn't a good thing.

The whole thread is completely delusional.  Even with the added pitching prospects, we're right smack middle of the road organization with regards to minor league talent.

Half of these guys will never see the big leagues. I like the looks of some of our top prospects like Sano and co. but the middle of the pack guys will probably never be impact guys at the major league level.
