Dodgers ht 113 hr in 2012..2nd to last ..last was SF!!
With Crawford added/plus reg guys..we have we should hit 150-160 hr and be in middle  pack for once..
Healthy kemp should hit 35+, Agon ,ethier  and HRam 25...Cruz,2-ellis  total 30.LF crawford  plus vet-15.. other vets/BU 10..total 165...middle of pack..

that added HR difference alone will add 60+ runs and make us a 90-93 win club..
you add a better SP to mix and we are better than 95 wins..

2013 NL....should be between..Nats,LAD and Reds...maybe Atl....
we will handle SF  next yr..mad

Desperately, as in the 3rd best ERA in MLB?

The problem was never pitching

Alot of that came early, Lilly and Cappy had early success and Blanton was pretty awful, Bills is very questionable for next season and the Lillys and Cappys and Blantons and Harangs of the world are not really playoff type pitchers! We need at least one more very proficient starter especially if Bills is gone next year!!confused

getting a starting pitcher (which I definitely agree with) is more for the postseason. Kershaw should finish with the best ERA in the NL (again) but having a definitive #2 rather than the two inconsistent ones (Beckett and Billingsley) would be nice.

Definitely interested to see what the plan is for Capuano and Harang.

Pre All-Star ERA: 3.33
Post All-Star ERA: 3.38

Highest month was August with a 3.90 staff ERA, good for 14th best in the Majors.

Is there any reason to believe that SF won't be really good again next year?  They have outstanding pitching, Buster Posey, and just seem to make the right moves every year.

The Dodgers will have to find a way to score runs next year if they want to beat out SF.  Maybe having Spring Training together will help?  Maybe Carl Crawford will stay healthy and play close to his All Star level?

We had 3rd best SP and staff pitching in MLB...yep.
Our SP staff is good enough to probably make the  playoffs
BUT..we are not likely good enough to win NL championship or WS w/out upgrade over either Cap or Harang assuming Lilly comes back and throws his 3.5 ERA.
Kershaw/beckett...then lilly, cap and harang is a  solid SP staff...

IF CBIlls was not injured...and could play whole 2013 ....we are set!
but CBills is unlikely to be OK..and  i think we will be DLed for whole season and come back in 2014.
hope I am wrong but the injury sounds like surgery ...
thatis why folks are saying look for an upgrade like Peavy,Kuroda etc..

We don't know about Bills yet. I don't think it's fair to assume that he'll be done for the year if he says he feels better after the PRP. Hey, it worked for Saito.

Even without Bills, there are 5 solid pitchers under contract, with Zach Lee almost ready.

I definitely think the staff could use another elite arm to slot in between Kershaw and Bills for if they make the playoffs next year. I'm just saying that pitching was anything but the weakness of the Dodgers in 2012.

The last few games for the Dodgers are hopefully a sign of great things to come next year. They got hot late but they were hitting, which is what we were missing for a few months.

RE: 2013 thread now that season is OVA!!!

I would like to see the Dodgers extend a contract to Brandon League. The guy solified out bullpen after Jansen went down. IMO, if we did not have League our bullpen would've blown its fair share of games down the stretch.

Victorino has an interesting twist. His value has to be at an all-time low and I believe the Dodgers should offer him an incentive laden 1-year deal to re-establish his value. I wonder if the deal had some sort of mid-season opt-clause would it entice him to re-sign a contract? Why do this? From the Dodgers perspective, I don't think Crawford will be ready to play in ST and Victorino is likely to get a subpar contract given his current numbers. He swung the bat a little better of late but he needs to boost his value; a la Adrian Beltre when he signed with Boston. noidea

+1  Huge mistake letting him walk in the first place.

Re: 2013 thread now that season is OVA!!!

I don't think it was a huge mistake to let him walk. The manner in that we let him walk is totally different. But Harang and Capuano actually far exceeded my expectations this year as bottom of the rotation guys.

Now, bring back Kuroda! Or give me Ryan Dempster or somebody who can be a legit #2. I think Beckett will be a solid #3 for us and hey... if Bills is good, then Beckett will even be a better #4!!

RE: 2013 thread now that season is OVA!!!

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Thursday that the team is leaning toward using Hanley Ramirez at shortstop next season.

Ramirez made the move to third base this season with the Marlins, but he played 57 out of 65 games at shortstop after being traded to the Dodgers in July. And the Dodgers intend to keep him there while giving Luis Cruz a shot at the full-time gig at third base. Dee Gordon is suddenly the odd-man out.

HanRam a Prima-Donna>?
