Batting Practice. Does Mattingly realize we're in a pennant race? Haren is no better than a High School pitcher. Leading Haren off in the fourth after throwing 70 plus pitches is absurd. There are better arms in the minors, Let's try one!!

One disappointment for another.  Hopefully, this means that Haren in no way will be allowed to make 180 IP so his option does not vest.

On another note, Javy Guerra has been very well for the Whitesox this year.  Could have used him instead of overpriced retreads.

From the frying pan into the fire replacing Dan Haren with Chris Perez.  I wonder you two, do you know to what respect you are not fully respected by Dodgers fans of your relative pitching skills.  Anybody in the Dodger farm system could do a better job than Chris Perez.  Send Perez to the minors and bring up someone, anyone.

Haren is gone soon.

I think this has to be the last start for Haren.  At least for now.

Just the facts.

Re: Cubs @ Dodgers: 8/1 - 8/3

Well damn, and Haren pitched pretty darn well for us earlier in the season.  Now that the trade deadline has passed, our only options are waiver wire pickups/trades and promoting a kid.  Haren looks toast and Beckett has started to come up lame as well.  Maholm... is Maholm.

Historically under Ned we don't promote kids (especially pitchers) except as a last ditch option.

Hopefully he'll buck that trend and give some of those names were hear about in the minors a shot.  Although if he waits til Sept call ups to keep their service time down, i can understand.  The rest of the month can be a bit dicey if both Haren and Beckett can't recover.

Christ we need our offense to start picking up.  They've been grab assing most of the season wasting the excellent performance of the staff.  It'll be nice if it was the other way for a change.

Re: Cubs @ Dodgers: 8/1 - 8/3

Amen to that.  Bring up someone from the minors to start.  Too bad Haren you should be paid the same salary in the minors as on the Dodger's parent team.  Someone else should take your job for much less.

Carl Crawford was given the gigantic contract that both the Red Sox and the Dodgers picked up?  Was it Cleveland? Major league baseball must change or fans will not show up for contenders with starting pitchers with a 4.5 plus ERA.  Fans will know who is starting.  They will not show up.  It is the world we live in.  Attribute gate attendance with who is starting.   Play Ethier not Crawford, salary "eatin" by the team owners driving decisions?

Haren and Perez to the minors.

Re: Cubs @ Dodgers: 8/1 - 8/3

Some on this board, after his one really good outing, were arguing how good a pitcher Haren was as a fifth starter. I say this guy stinks no matter how many starters you would carry. I don't think he could beat a good high school team, and in no way should be in the major leagues.

Also, it is a small sample for sure, but the Dodgers have played two games since the trade deadline ended and have a total of nine hits; Kemp is 0-5 with two strikeouts. Before some go crazy, I will state that it probably doesn't mean anything yet, just something to watch. Just saying'...

Re: Cubs @ Dodgers: 8/1 - 8/3

I said in mid June only that Dan Haren was a tough guy.  I praised him.  Zach Lee or someone else needs to be given a chance to replace Haren.  Anyone they bring up cannot start in the play-offs, it is too late.  No July 31 decision was made.

Do contracts require well paid baseball players cannot be sent to the minors?  Crawford's salary will be tougher to eat than Ethier's salary.

There are two or three starting pitchers out there that the Dodgers could obtain One for 2015, paid for by released 2014 players salary.  That does not solve 2014 problem.

These albatrosses around the Dodgers owners neck are going to cost the team play-off successes this year.
No Joc Pedersen in 2014 because of indecision or an other hand-tied explanation.

Not so, the deadline for allowing a player to be on the postseason roster is August 31. That is why many waiver trade deadline deals are done before that day passes.

Re: Cubs @ Dodgers: 8/1 - 8/3

There is no need for revisionism. When MDMore was calling for Haren's head for giving up 1st inning homers, Haren was actually performing quite well for a #5. Now he isn't. To me, Zach Lee should get a shot. He has the most upside of any of the potential replacements.
