dodgers at Pirates..July 15-16

Might as well get a few comments on last 2 games..
Beckett outing if good will be great news..
should win this game is Beckett is OK.
Worley's last 2 outings have been bad...

Haren next day..will also be telling another so so outing and we will look for another SP option.
  • TV: LAD: SportsNet LA PIT: ROOT SPORTS

Josh Beckett, RHP

6-5, 2.26 ERA

Battling a hip impingement, which was revealed to be a torn labrum with two cysts in his left hip, Beckett will return to the rotation after a 40-pitch bullpen session Saturday. The 34-year-old right-hander has a 2.26 ERA in 17 starts.

Vance Worley, RHP

2-1, 3.38 ERA

The right-hander will be making his first start since July 8 on Monday against the Dodgers. Worley also pitched two innings of relief on July 13 and has a 7.71 ERA in his last two appearances.

Last nights game was a good win, got contribution from players we need to contribute. Ryu looked good and the bullpen stepped up.

I hope Beckett can keep it going.

I hope beckett can  give up 5 solid innings and then take him out......
Dodgers needs to develop strategy for beckett so he does not pitch every 5 days etc.
That is why i keep suggesting CReed come up as LR and occ SU vs mahom who I would trade ASAP before aug 1st deadline....
Reed could be occasional 6th SP giving RYU and Beckett needed days off..and RP rest of time....Haren may see benefit as well or slow down his progress to 180ip and automatic 2015 SP.

If the Dodger offense needs help from above, fans can ask for that as well.

Is it to much to ask someone to hit a homer, man the pirates hit three and we haven't hit one in quite a while, does McGuire teach this,

Another example of inferior management. This is unreal, Letting relief pitchers give up 4 walks in a inning, Has Ellis ever blocked a pitch in the dirt that mattered? Leaving Wright in that long. He can't blame a tired bully pen just coming off the all-star break. This team has had some really lousy managers, none as bad as Mattingly. Make some trades, or bring up some youth it couldn't be any worse.

Did he really have Mahlon hit with go ahead run on 2nd? Only to keep Maholm in to give up back to back hits in the sixth? Brilliant!

Plenty of home  runs and certainly another  good  reason  why we need bully help.
Perez.. Nightmare... Needs to go...
Maholm.... just  trade the guy while he has value.. not much.
Relief pitchers lost this game we should have won.

Re: dodgers at Pirates..July 15-16

League had been our only decent 8 th inning guy. at least we would not have walked 4 guys...
Perez??????
Maybe this game will remind Colleti why we need bully help....

bring up Reed,drop/trade  maholm and perez and trade for a solid SU...
This is ridiculous....

Re: dodgers at Pirates..July 15-16

Well in one game we pretty much summed up Dodgers way of thinking and we will have to likely get a starter (got a feeling this will be a lingering thing with Beckett and Haren is clearly pointing down) and a bullpen arm or two.

Wilson can't get on track...Perez is worthless. Malholm is a wasted roster spot. It doesn't look like we will be giving any of our farmhands a chance (pie in the face to the tens of millions we spent on these closers).

As much talent as we have it is sad as hell that we have to trade Urias, Seager or Pederson......

I swear Mattingly is the only manager in the entire league that doesn't lift Malhom with a tying runner on second and only one out..............banghead

we don;'t have to trade prospects to get RP...colletti needs to use brain on shoulders to at least bring up Reed.
Then trade and OF top get at least a solid SU that we have not had all yr.
Beckett has rust...he will be ok..
Haren is the issue...from SP
only 3/7 guys in bully are OK..that is bigger problem

Well that was awful, The Good - Dodgers scored 7 - The Bad - Dodger pitchers gave up 12 - The Ugly - Paplebon allows Giants to tie the score and eventually win the game.

Re: dodgers at Pirates..July 15-16

I would hope its only rust too, just got a feeling the hip thing will be an issue the rest of the way. We have all seen Harens struggles of late and we all pretty much agree Malholm is a waste. I think we all would DFA Malholm and Perez today and bring Paco back up with Reed (hell even Figgins for that matter and bring up Guerrero when he is ready and keep Rojas until then) but I have zero faith in Colletti and Mattingly.....

Re: dodgers at Pirates..July 15-16

  • Though some around the league believe the Dodgers are highly motivated to deal former star Matt Kemp, the Red Sox were not left with that impression after making an inquiry, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. At least three other American League teams have also asked about Kemp’s availability, including the IndiansMariners, and Rangers, but Rosenthal says that none have made trade proposals. Cleveland and Texas both appear unlikely partners, while Seattle could have an outside chance of adding him. Though moving Kemp poses many difficult questions for the Dodgers, Rosenthal says that the veteran is “at odds” with manager Don Mattingly
