Indians @ Dodgers (6/30-7/2/2014)

Game 1.

Monday, 7:10PM. Sports Net.

Dan Haren

96.1 IP | 3.83 ERA | 4.53 FIP | .288 BABIP

Click this bar to view the full image.

Haren has had a rocky few weeks, allowing 14 home runs in his last nine starts and going 3-3 with a 4.78 ERA in that span. He was pulled with one out in the fifth inning in his last start, again struggling to provide length on the mound.
vs.

Corey Kluber

110.2 IP | 3.09 ERA | 2.68 FIP | .336 BABIP

Click this bar to view the full image.

Kluber got back in the win column Wednesday for the first time since May 30 with a dominant seven-inning shutout of the D-backs. He scattered four hits and issued one walk while striking out eight -- the ninth time he's fanned that many this season.

Let's keep this mini two-game winning streak going tonight, and take over first place from those collapsing Giants. The Giants can't lose tonight; they are off. biggrin

No kidding....what a freakin underachiever he is.  The Dodgers are only in 1st by half a game.  Geez...what's wrong with them?  I guess there's always next year.  Only as long as Kershaw...that choke artist isn't on the team.

Re: Indians @ Dodgers (6/30-7/2/2014)

Kemp seems to be rounding into form.  Looks like with Crawford out and more consistent ABs he's starting to feel the groove again.  There's a decent chance he'll become a 850 OPS hitter this year.  Perhaps not playing CF has helped

Ethier sadly still looks like crap.  I had a bad feeling he'd start tanking after his extension, especially when we had Crawford on board (or at least if Ned was willing to eat Crawford's contract at the deadline, why give out such a rich contract to Ethier, everyone knew Boston wanted to dump Crawford ASAP).

AGon as well has been horrendous.  Seriously WTF happened.  He's being paid a king's ransom and he's producing like hot garbage for a 1B.

HRam is a similar case as Ethier before he got extended (which we decided to commit before exploring other options or waiting a bit longer).  People were saying to extend HRam asap, but this extra season has really made alot of folks scared of committing big bucks to him now.  While he hasnt been bad (in fact he's a GREAT hitting SS), the talk of a mega extension has now totally gone away.  Totally worth resigning for a reasonable deal if he's inclined

Bullpen has rebounded in a HUGE way.  Hell even League is looking like his old elite self now.  Perez has been crap, but other than that our recent run is in large part due to the bully (SP has always been solid, now lately near historic elite).  Hell we'd have another 10-15 wins this season if they didnt have an implosion in the beginning of the season.  Regardless if they keep up this play the rest of the year we're gonna go deep in the POs for sure.

All in all, its great to see that the Dodgers clawed their way to 1st place.  The Giants lokoed like they were gonna run away with the division, but now the Dodgers have a good chunk of the season to hope their hitters find their groove and try to pad the lead is possible (thus giving key players rest down teh stretch and playing more kids to see who's worth brining up next year).  If our pitchers pitch 80% of what theyre currently doing AND the hitters hit 80% of waht theyre capable of, we're WS winners for sure.

Heh FINALLY the league top payroll is playing like it ;)

Pitching and defense. Dodgers of past and hopefully Dodgers of future. I (IMHO) think that Hanley is our (At this time) only really big change necessary. With Kemp coming around and our HIGH priced all-stars rounding into their regular levels we should be in great shape. Love the Houston leak, great stuff that you know goes on all the time, GM's gotta talk. Trade deadline is awesome, lots of speculation and plenty of dodger talk. We're in 1st place, I love the shots of the CHEMISTRY in the Dodger dugout. GO DODGERS

Damn underachieving choke artists. If Either had not been slacking off he could have had a home run instead of a crappy triple. Home run Haren, what a waste of money, the Dodgers could have won 1 to -2 if Haren wasn't taking up space. Finally, I don't need to say anything about the bull pen, every arm out there has to go. Coletti and Dunno Baseball should trade everyone on the team and in the minors for a bag of balls and some used jock straps. Then they can use all of the money ownership has to dig up and re-animate the Boys of Summer.biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin Go Dodgers!

Wow, what a performance by Haren last night! History was made. It is the first time ever a no hitter was broken up by a manager. I doubt Francona ever did that as a hitter, but his challenge overturned the out call and gave the Indians their sole hit. It made me wonder how many no hitters on the books would not be there if calls were always able to have been reviewed.

Anyway, props to Haren on making the only souvenir baseballs those that went foul. :-) Great job! Go first place Dodgers!

Expect the lefties to hit well tonight, if we had any more they would be in the lineup.

Re: TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT...

I know people think Matt is "coming" out of it but is anyone else noticing the major flaw on his swing right now? Why anyone would throw him something else but a slider or curve should be fined. Masterson sucks and he just was swinging at butterflies. Puig looks bad as well. Funny how some pitchers just suck but yet own people!

Any chance Dunno baseball will maybe play some small ball??? I mean 2rd and 3rd with no outs and we can't plate them? Eithier swung at ball four. Kinda frustrating right now cause I know they can hit better than this. Maybe some small ball will get em going.

Puig has a double tonight, it is up to the hitters to execute. Small ball is execution, Matty can't do it for them!

No fear. We have plenty of time to get to this no talent pitcher. Hopefully, Beckett will settle in and look more like no hit Beckett the rest of the way.  I think tomorrow we will still be in first place. Go Dodgers!

How the eff do we leave sacks juiced two innings in a row and can't plate a god damn run!bangheadbangheadbanghead

Dude 9 K's and have had the side struck out three times tonight..you can win a playoff series let alone the world series like this. This to me is a huge concern with the amount of K's we have. I mean we couldn't even get a productive out even if we tried.

Eff mebangheadbangheadbanghead

Clint couldn't come through with another pinch hit.. makes it worse is that the Giants are winning so far

still got time to rally though.. let's hope the bullpen locks things down

Re: TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT...

Why is it so incredibly hard for people to accept that Kemp is done as a great player.  A .270 18 HR injury prone player is what he is at this point.  He's not the first player to have his body start to break down just as he was entering his prime, he's not gonna be the last.  Accept it and move on.  Think of him and his salary as McCourt's going away "present".
