Here we go again, trying to win the N.L. West and the rest after that with:

Schumaker, Uribe, Sellers, and then the pitching slot.

Surly there is one, or two, or even three players in the minors who can beat that part of the lineup.

Yes..AC can play 3b or 2b....Gordon SS...but dodgers are too conservative to make changes, esp with HRam ready to come back.
Maybe he will pinch hit and hit grand slam to tie/win game?
Rosario and fowler may have more hr than our whole team?

This is pathetic...Lilly just let pitcher get 2 hits....rolleyes
Maybe  fowler will hit grand slam to put game totally out of reach.
Ohhh he walks a run in..nice.
Well good news is Lilly has thrown 71 pitches so max 2 more innings and two to three more runs.
Lilly has had 1 VG start and now 1 VBad start....#3 ?

Uribe should PH and then come in for Cruz..who is in a terrible slump. Cruz needs to go to AAA and get stroke back.
Why is this so hard to figure out?
Cruz worst hitting 3b and Sellers maybe worst hitting SS and Mattingly plays them?

Rockies will probably sweep this series. Feels like every other season, we wait for it too turn around and it never does. 1 player won't change this team. Need much more than HanRam.

Schumaker adds more value to this team than i thought...great for him w/o significant warmup to pitch 9th.!

Re: 4/29-5/1: Colorado Rockies @ Los Angeles Dodgers

3 things...
1. Cruz and Wall obviously need to be sent down to AAA..
2. Guerra needs to come up today otherwise he pitches on wed. and can be long relief guy. We do not need #5Sp til may 15th or so so hopefully Cap will be back ,otherwise Guerrra.
3. Time for Gordon to come up and share time at SS with Hram, 3b is a disaster..if Hram could play 3b 50% there and 50% SS . We need spark and Gordon can provide something-send down sellers. Gordon will outhit him.
we need change...a shakeup.

Chris Withrow has been throwing lights out too, another potential bullpen option. Matt Magill pitched fine, are you talking about needing another starter to replace Lilly?

Dodgers are committed to Hanley at SS, so Dee Gordon is likely trade bait. And can anyone answer me why the Dodgers always play short handed when players like Mark Ellis get hurt? Put him on the disabled list, call up someone useful and roll with Shumaker and Hairston at 2B until Ellis is truly ready to play after a brief DL stay.

Mattingly and Colletti are on the firing line, it's scary to think about the things they may do, Colletti in particular, to try to keep his job. Hopefully Stan Kasten is ready with the veto.

Re: 4/29-5/1: Colorado Rockies @ Los Angeles Dodgers

Speedy, Mattingly is definitely on the firing line for this teams performance and won't make it past the end of May if the Dodgers continue to languish in the standings and play the kind of baseball they have been playing.  He was set up to be the fall guy when they refused to extend his contract a year leaving him a lame duck for this season.

Colletti, on the other hand, just signed a three year extension and Stan Kasten has had nothing but great things to say about him as his GM.  I think it is wishful thinking if you think Kasten will fire him.  I see Kasten and Colletti as a team.  I think Kasten has been working very closely with Colletti and has been involved in a lot of the decision making.

Although it's tough to be a Dodger fan right now given how much money they are spending on payroll and how high the expectations were at the beginning of the season, it's not really Mattingly's fault that Kemp can no longer hit, Greinke thinks he can fight, and Colletti thinks Harang, Capuano and Lilly should be kept as rotation options at all costs.

It is probably good for baseball in the long run that the free spenders like the Dodgers, Angels, Phillies and Yankees all seem to be having their problems.  It reinforces the theory that you just can't throw money at the problem and think you can win.  You still have to be smart about how you go about putting your team together and spending wisely on players and prospects.  You have to admire teams like Oakland and Tampa Bay, that seem to be able to accomplish so much more with so much less.

Sounds like Lilly might go dl in reading articles...if so.. Guerra is next up as LRelief that we don't curently have and NEED and possible BU SP.
Cap will replace Lilly...??
Guerra will replace Wall.
Withrow still needs to throw more strikes...no runs but he throws less than 60% strikes...not a good situation. maybe Withrow in a month. Then he replaces Guerrier who is doing poorly..

Only reason I mention Gordon. is 3b is disaster area and SS Sellers stinks offensively..and we can not score runs.

Having Gordon come up and PR and occasionally play SS will be an offensive asset that we desperately need. This makes transition for Hram EASIER in coming back.
If team continues to struggle mattingly should  be fired partly because he has been unwilling to make needed changes. and take risk. Granted some players like kemp have not performed but Mattingly has not optimized lineup for success.
Dodgers have mismanaged AC as well..SVS also.
SVS should have been called up as PH at least. the guy is so hot in AAA!!
AC played 3b and 2b last yr..ave defender or Hram like...then mgmt decided because of all inf depth..sellers,hairston.punto etc..they should play AC in OF??? where we have tons of excess??
Had they stayed the course...AC playing 2b and 3b..he would be  probably 100% better than Cruz and could be play 2b now while ellis is down .he adds power that we do not have. Would he have hit better than Cruz..at least .200-250.
Another example of Mattingly mismanaging resources ..Colletti as well.
We stuck with old vets and old mindset..we need a fresh new mgr that is not linked to doing things old way.

Don't be so negative. The Dodgers are more than coming around and have been taking the majority of their series lately.

Oh brother. For two weeks Kemp was the 5th best batter in baseball. Now he doesn't get a hit in 8 ab's and all of a sudden he "can't hit anymore". This is getting to be too much.

Kemp is a good hitter and is on road to recovery of OLD Kemp - the beast!
He prolly will not get full power back til end of yr? but he needs to give us 2b ,3b at least in meantime to stay at #3 spot. 1 hr in 100PA ...6XBH in 100PA ..pretty bad.
I can deal with power but he needs to get back to about same # of XBH/PA as before for him  to be a contributor. He is 2x lower than we need him to be for XBH.
Players will all slump...Ethier needs to snap out...HRam needs to start out running for us to straighten ship.
If we hold ship at .500 til Greinke gets back..that is good.

Kemp's OPS last week was better than 1. He's fine. I'm frankly more concerned with Ethier. He's playing like he knows it's going to be his last year as a Dodger.

RE: 4/29-5/1: Colorado Rockies @ Los Angeles Dodgers

Kemp's .900 OPS last week....was because he hit a HR and had ONE 2b..2 xbh in the whole week.wow!
He is not OK...
Kemp when healthy has averaged over 10% xbh /pa last 2 yrs..
Now he is 5%...so lets face it he will not hit 30 hrs, 30 2b and 5 3b..in 2013 which is typical..
But what we need is 15hr...45 2b and 5 3b..that would be Ok at a lower power level.
That is the expectation for yr..and he is far behind..like 2x.
Ethier is also an issue but is in a slump , he is hitting LHP better than rhp!!
Andre has .718 OPS for yr which is low but since rhp is lower than LHP you figure he will snap out of that funk.
Ethier is on pace to hit 20 hr..but he is not getting enough 2b as well.
so key for both guys is get more xbh..
lets hope Andre can get back up to .280 + Bave with 20 hr , 30 2b..so trade value is high so  Puig can take over next yr.
