Crawford’s injury woes continue; may not be ready opening day

By Mike Oz | Big League Stew

One of these days Carl Crawford will play a game in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform. It's just not likely to be opening day.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told reporters on Friday that the team has shut down Crawford for a week and his status for opening day was in question. Nerve irritation in his surgically-repaired elbow has set back Crawford's comeback, which would also be his Dodgers debut. Per the

L.A. Times:

“I think it challenges opening day a little bit,” Mattingly said. “[But] I don’t think it’s out of the question ... Opening day would be great. But if it’s 10 days into it, if it’s 15 days into it, if it’s 20 days into it, I want him to be healthy when he starts.”

Just let the guy get healthy, don't want this to be something that lingers all year!! He really is the key to this offense clicking this year IMO!!

Crawford is a May start guy...no way dodgers risk further injury and yr to take chance at starting him in April.

I would like to see Puig, fill in for him and if he is playing good ball let him stay there.

You and I are in minority in thinking Pig will stick with club as starting LF after ST.
The guy is exciting...Kempish.

Even Kemp couldn't stick with the big league club his first time around. Don't want to 'Gordon' Puig as a result of coming up too fast.

Sounds like management's goal with Puig is to give him ABs every day. If that opportunity comes with the big league club, then that's great. We just hope that he doesn't see a regress to potentially kill his confidence, particularly when other clubs get a book written on him.

Clubs will start throwing off speed stuff to him just like Kemp.
At some point Puig  will have to adapt.
In some ways a good way to learn.
Doubt it will happen
