Gas Prices

Posted: 5/4/2011 10:12 AM

Gas Prices

I normally fill up on Wed, but forgot to today.  When I got to the office one of my employees told me prices went up (again!) to $3.82.  In the 2006 election Dems were blaming GWB.  So here's my 2 part question

1) Who do you blame now - BHO, Libya, Middle East unrest, Killing OBL (thoughts of revenge), gas companies, environmentalist, etc.

2) What do you do to fix the problem?  Here is one Senator's idea.

Re: Gas Prices

I blame the fact that there is less oil than there used to be and demand has never been higher.  The fix, if fix there is, is either to develop a less expensive alternative, or to live with higher and higher prices until we run out of oil.

One of the more dumber ideas I've heard recently. More subsidies begat more demand which begat higher prices which negate the impact of the subsidy.

If he thinks it'll "help" consumers, how about using pre-tax dollars for groceries? Rent? Cable bills? Cigarettes? Cell phones?  Season tickets? Those take bigger chunks out of most people's budgets than gas.

I'm co-sponsoring a bill to make everything I want to buy pre-tax.
