8/20/14 Gamenight at the Rockies, the Sequel

3B Colon

2B Infante

C Perez

1B Butler

LF Gordon

RF Willingham

CF Cain

SS Escobar

P Duffy

Facing our old friend George of the Rose

Captain Obvious prediction #1:  Willingham, who runs like a penguin, will let a ball (or two) drop in RF.
Captain Obvious prediction #2:  Willingham will hit a ball (or two) very hard.

Wonder if either of the two will determine the outcome of the game.

Like the lineup against a lefty.  Wish Salvy got an extra day off but it is what it is.

maybe we can jump out to a big lead and get him out by the 5th.

you gotta figure a defensive replacement would be made for sure.

lets hope, then the bullpen can hold it giving Holland and Davis the night off too.

I'm surprised Colon is leading off and not Escobar or Cain.

we could really use Duffy for 7 innings tonight, I know Yost has him on a pitch count and that is unlikely but would still be nice if he could cruise through 7.

they can't get on base, Colon can draw walks so that's probably why Yost went with Colon.

it'd be surprising if Duffy had a smoother start than Shields considering the park and all.

Rockies starting 7 RH bats, with Dickerson as their only LH position player bat

their order: Rutledge Stubbs Arenado Rosario Dickerson McBride Barnes LeMathieu and De La Rosa.

i'd be surprised as well, to my knowledge Duffy has gone 7 innings once, it could be more I just don't remember.

Colon actually walks fewer times (3.7% in his 1 walk so far) than Escobar (4.3%) and Cain (4.9%).

Small sample size, it was almost 13% in AAA.  Not earth shattering, but better than Esky or Cain.

Colon's BB% in AAA this year was actually just 7.7%. Last year, it was 7.1%. Cain had years in AAA where he put up 7.3% and 11% BB% totals. Escobar had a 6.6% BB total, so really not that far off in general.

With that said, I'm jealous you got to go to the game last night. I've been to Coors once a long time ago and really enjoyed it. Hopefully you didn't have to deal with any crappy fans, but who could really hate the Royals at this point?

ok, not arguing by any means but I saw 30 walks in 388 plate appearances, am I doing the math wrong?

EDIT:  yes, my dumass did the math wrong, you sir, are correct.

No, it wasn't a bad crowd at all and there were a lot of Royals fans and by the end of the game that's all that was left. The Rockies do have a nice downtown set up, they have the worst record in MLB and still drew 30k on a Tuesday night.  Not bad.

It is pretty impressive that they're 9th in the league for attendance at just a bit over 34,000/game despite having such a bad record. It's hard to have much hate for their team either. It seems like just living in the area, they may have become sort of your "2nd team" or NL team at least?
