Re: Gameday 8-16-2014

Ibanez is such a waste of a roster spot. .195/.284/.346 against RHP this year. Willingham is .190/.330/.380 and 7 years younger. Moore needs to cut Ibanez so Ned has no choice but to DH Willingham.

While looking up Raul's splits, I saw that he has 1 hit in 41 PAs against LHP this year and a slashline of .024/.109/.049. What a brutal ballplayer.

So are we riding Aoki's hot streak? Ned was playing his reverse split for a couple of months, looks like he's gonna keep playing Aoki until he cools off.

Good problem to have, frankly, w/Cain, Dyson & Aoki all playing well. Be cool if Gordon can get a day off & it not kill us.

Re: Gameday 8-16-2014

It's hard to get nuts about the lineups with us winning lately. But yeah...don't think Ibanez is the smart play with Willingham coming back to MN. Plus, w/ Aoki's reverse split and lackluster night last night, it seemed like a logical night to get Dyson another start w/ a RHP and w/ Cain in RF for optimal defense. And Infante...just seems obvious that he's struggling right now - wouldn't mind seeing Colon get an extra start or two each week down the stretch.

Isn't THIS Aoki what we all expected he'd be rather than "just riding a hot streak"? He's a little over what he was his two seasons in Milwaukee since his return from the DL, but not by much.

Yeah...happens a lot these days. Lineup second-guessing turns guys into game heroes. Whatever. If they win, I could care less at this point.

Re: Gameday 8-16-2014

Aoki had no reverse split in 2012. For his career he has a better BB rate and ISO vs. RH pitching. His numbers are skewed to a reverse split because his BABIP is 50 points higher vs. LH pitching. His LD% is also higher vs. RH pitching, so you would think his BABIP should correct over time.

Aoki had an injury in spring training but everyone said it wasn't serious.  I think your suspicions are right and he didn't get fully healthy until his return from the DL.  I like this version a lot.

Yeah, I feel a lot less silly these days for being so excited about the Aoki trade when it happened.

This team's going to put me in the ground early. 17 pitches in 2 IP for Hughes.

Re: Gameday 8-16-2014

We're trying to take pitches he keeps getting us down 0-2. All you can do is try to make contact if he's hugging the zone but we can't. We're not reaching that bullpen tonight.

it was the same thing the past two games guys, let's let the game play itself out.

the Shark had a 7 pitch 1st inning and a 10 pitch 2nd before the Royals got to him.
